Lago Vista Middle School
Excellence In All We Do 10/9/20
1/4 of the way finished!
Wow...this has been a first nine weeks of school like no other! We've had our challenges for sure, but I can't thank our staff, our parents and our students for all of their work to get through this together. I'm incredibly proud to be able to be a part of our staff and I'd like to say thank you to our parents for helping in so many ways.
My Student Is Coming Back...
So now the second nine weeks starts and my student is coming back...what does that mean?
First, your student will get a new schedule, and that can be picked up on Thursday morning before class. We will have staff available to help students find their way around the first few days of school.
If you requested bus transportation, use this app - https://tinyurl.com/yytdvv7x - it will get you bus number and time for pick up and drop off.
I made this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wGsxtOSQrw&t=4s - for the first day of school, so that may help with drop off/pick up and any other questions people may have.
Also, if you'd like a virtual tour of the school, here you go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zUWsNiSZw8&t=1s
If you have any questions about returning to school, please don't hesitate to call the front office or email me at eric_holt@lagovista.txed.net
Bond Election 2020
I'm not sure if anyone has heard about this, but we have an election coming up! On the 2020 ballot, Lago Vista ISD will present a bond for facility improvements to the Elementary School, Middle School and High School.
I have included Quick Facts about the Bond, and also links to several meetings that Mr. Webb (our superintendent) will be holding. If you have any questions about how this will effect the middle school, feel free to call or email me.
C Day
But, if you are sending your student, please, please, please make sure to fill out the RSVP form. Last week, we had over 30 students come that had not RSVP'd.
I'll just say this...any time you have over 30 middle school students show up anywhere that's not prepared for them...well, it's a challenge for sure. Everything is different this year from bus transportation to lunches, so we need to plan things in advance. So please, if you are going to send you student - fill out this form.
https://forms.gle/ZJTPUBfXHkffGf4e8
Please have this filled out by Monday at noon.
There is no need to fill out this form if you are not attending.

What Day Is It?
Help Keep Us Playing!
Masks!!
- Spectators, audiences, fans and media are required to wear face coverings as described in Executive Order GA-29.
- Groups should maintain at least six feet of distance from other groups at all times, including the process of admission and seating. A group is defined as no more than 10 people including the members of the household and those persons who traveled together to the facility.
UIL is very serious about these guidelines, and if we want to continue to play sports this year, we must take these to heart. Photos from different schools not following this guidance have already been circulating, which puts all of our programs at risk.
Please make sure to wear a mask at all times and respect social distancing.
Great Volleyball vs. Llano
Our volleyball teams competed against Llano on Thursday. Below you will find the results for our teams:
8 Blue:
I have never been more proud of these girls as I was last night! We went into this game with a different dynamic, missing a few key players meant learning new roles and positions and they completely overcame all obstacles! I am happy to report they are still undefeated for the season at 6-0 with the win against Llano! Our successes usually come from our serves, however, they fought tooth and nail for each and every point they put onto that board going into 3 sets. Scores were: 17-25, 25-14, and 27-25. This was the most action in a game they have ever had, the gym was loud with both sides cheering and chanting and ended with many happy tears! Our leading servers were Mia Garcia and Claire Brumfield, leading passer was Claire Brumfield and leading in assists was Stella Gjelaj. Also contributing to our team for our win against Llano were: Bella Adams, Alexia Parker, Lindsay Sanders, and Angie Woodall.
8 Gold:
Our 8th grade Gold Team played an incredible game against Llano last night. It was a fast-paced, high energy game. We moved to 5-0 in district play winning in two sets, 25-15 and 25-21. Our leading servers were Amelia Robinson with 13 service points followed by Hanna Simmons with 9 serves. Amelia Robinson led the team with 12 attacks at the net, followed by Emily Jungman with 9 attacks. Mikayla Vasquez led the team with 27 passes. Also contributing to the win was Sydney Hiebert, Lana Spedale, Maddison Kassell, and Kanon Yetley. We will travel to Ingram on Thursday for our next game.
7th Gold:
The 7th Gold Team played perhaps their best match of season last night coming up short 21- 25 & 23-25 to the first place Llano Lady Yellow Jackets. The Lady Vikings out hustled Llano point for point all night long but just weren’t able to overcome an inconsistent service game to come away with a victory on the scoreboard. Despite the loss, their effort was incredible! These eight young ladies really played great. Ania Saldana, Jaedyn Hylander, Caeley Carmack, Allisen Shipp, Makenna Fiscus, Mackenzie Koska, Avi Ramirez, Haley Wray. Haley Wray was an animal in the back court where she decided no ball would land on her side of the gym! Allison Shipp had several kills on the night, spiking the ball down past the Llano defense. It really was awesome to watch the girls start to move with purpose and as a team. They competed as hard as they have all season long. Their confidence is growing and I can’t wait to watch them take it to the Ingram Lady Warriors next Thursday night.
7 Blue:
Our 7th Blue team fought harder than I have ever seen this season against Llano last night! Though they were unsuccessful on the scoreboard, I consider it a huge success! They went 3 sets at 25-14, 23-25, and 15-25. We have vastly improved with movement on the court, passing, setting, and communication! They are showing much more confidence than earlier in the season as well that contributes to their efforts. To lose to this team the first time in 2 sets and then to go 3 sets this time, with as close as they were, says a lot and I was extremely proud of them! The girls now sit at a 3-3 record for the season. Our leading servers were Macy Thompson with 13 serves, Carli Parker with 9 serves, and Laila Smith and Hannah Hood each with 8 serves. Our leader in passing and assists was Marlie Hawkins. Also contributing to the team were: Josie Oatman, Milele McBride, and Tori Lee.
First District Game for 7th Grade
The 7th grade football team traveled to Luling this week to play the Eagles. This was the Vikings first district ball game of the year.
The Vikings jumped to a 13 zero lead early in the game. The offense moved the ball well all night. Offensive players of the game were Tripp Henderson, Cullen Parker and Nathan Heibert. Defensively, the Vikings held the Eagles to 0 points. Jack Xuereb was the defensive player of the week! The only Eagle score of the night came on a 65 yard punt return in the 2nd quarter. The Vikings continued to move the ball in the 2nd half, but failed to get back into the endzone. The defense continued their dominance and the Vikings finished with a 13-6 win. The Vikings are now 1-0 in district play.
Next week LVMS will be at home to face Llano. This game will be Thursday night at the HS Stadium.
