PTG News
We are having a number of events sponsored by our PTG. We are looking for a committee to help with our Fall Festival that is tentatively scheduled for October 24th from 6-8pm.
Please call the school office if you are interested in helping out. We are specifically looking for lawn tractors and trailers to tow the children around the backyard of the school during this event.
We also will be sending out a flyer that solicits donations to the school PTG. We offer this item because many people are so busy these days that they prefer to make a donation and not feel that they need to be at every event. However Forest Avenue's strength is it's participation in community events. So we always ask that you help out here in school anyway you can. Our volunteer background checks are available in the school office. They are currently free. Stop by to get your background check and start helping out.
NWEA Testing this Month
Our district wide student assessment is going on this month. All students will be assessed on what they know in a number of subject areas. This assessment explains to teachers what your child has learned and where they are at, according to their base of knowledge.
This test tells teachers what growth students are supposed to make this year and just what growth they have achieved. Teachers will look over this data many times in their Professional Learning Community to discuss what they are teaching and how they can teach certain standards better.
This month and every month make sure your child comes to school well fed and with plenty of rest. This gets them on the right track every day to perform here at their best.
Walk to School Day
Walk to School Day is October 8th.
Since Forest Avenue School sits between two main roads, (East and West) we do not have many walkers. In order to celebrate this day we have the boys and girls from the Forest Avenue vicinity walk in to school. They are allowed to bring friends with parent permission.
This is strictly a celebratory walk. No fanfare, just a small participation in "Walk to School Day." Please continue to have your children ride the bus this day.
