News From the Band Room

Greetings from the Band Room

Hi Folks - We hope that yesterday's concert was able to put you in the holiday spirit. The Mrs. and I were extremely pleased with the way the kids performed their music and moved back and forth for smooth transitions. It was a great way to wrap up the first half of the year. Please make sure that your son/daughter takes good care of the uniforms they were issued and they are stored properly. They will wear them again for the spring concert.

If I don't see you before the break, have a wonderful holiday season with family and friends.

Have a great week!

Mr. Fair

Congratulations to 4 of our band students who auditioned and qualified for the PMEA District 7 Upper Band Festival to be held at Chambersburg High School January 24-26. These students put in a lot of individual practice time to accomplish this achievement. They are senior Jacob Hitz on Bari-Sax, Senior Zach Whelan on Percussion, Sophomore Georgia Martin on clarinet, and Sophomore James Antonucci on Tuba. If you see these students, wish them good luck as they attend the festival and audition to move on to Region V Band.

Instrument Maintenance

This time of year is a great time to make sure that your child's band instrument is in proper working condition. There is no doubt that they have been used quite a bit over the past several months and I know that I have made some emergency repairs. However, those emergency repairs are not a long term solution and should be taken care of properly. Remind your son/daughter to make sure everything is functioning properly on their instrument and if there are any problems, please take it to Lōser's Music over the break to have it taken care of by a certified instrument repair person. Better to take care of small problems now than a bigger problem right before a performance. Also, instrument accessories, such as reeds, valve/slide oil, cork grease, polishing clothes, etc. make great stocking stuffers. Lōser's also has a large selection of music themed gifts for that last minute purchase.

For your planning purposes, band camp will take place July 22-26, 2019. Please mark your calendars and try to schedule vacations around this important week of instruction to learn the show for next fall.
