Dear Highlander Families,
As hard as it is to believe, we have only 6 weeks left in the school year! Although it has been a difficult year, it has also been a year filled with successes. Students and staff returned to school in person full time. We were able to institute Covid testing to maintain the safety of our community and a Test to Stay program to limit student and staff absences due to exposure to COVID 19. Students resumed learning and socializing and began to close the gaps that occurred due to Covid. It has been exciting to see them grow this school year.
On April 28th we held our SIT (School Improvement Team) meeting. During the meeting we discussed the ways in which we plan to spend our Federal Title 1 money for the 2022-2023. The current plan is to continue to use the money to fund the Summer Program, the reading tutors and the after-school tutoring. In addition, we will use some of the funds for a new High Quality ELA and Math curriculum. Parents shared ideas for other possible programs including homework workshops for parents so they could better help their children and more art, sports and music. We will be looking at these suggestions as we begin to plan the budget for next year.
Please make sure to look at the calendar for May and June as there are many end of the year activities coming up!
