BC Bear Facts
WEEKLY EDITION - April 6th-10th
See What's New!
First of all, happy Spring Break! You made it! And, as you all know, we will be moving to distance (online) learning next Tuesday, April 14th. Monday, April 13th is a Staff Development Day when teachers will be in virtual meetings and putting the final touches on their distance learning plans before the official rollout on the 14th. For more information about what you can do to ensure your family is ready for distance learning, please watch the video below.
In addition, be sure to read the BC Bear Facts in your email each Monday. New sections (including all grade levels, the counselor, pre-school, etc) will be included in the coming weeks. There is still a lot going on within the Boulder Creek Community and many folks making it happen.
Have a wonderful Easter and stay well, Everyone!
All my best,
Tina Croes
Need a Chromebook?
Chromebook Distribution will be for those families who have not already checked out a Chromebook and need one. We would now like Kindergartners to be included as well. Please report to Rother Elementary School on Tuesday, April 14th from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Free Audible for Children During School Closure
From our County Superintendent, Judy Flores:
Great news for our students! Amazon canceled the subscription of books and audio stories for children and students of all ages as long as schools are closed, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids.
All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet using the following link

Spread the good news!
The 2019-2020 yearbook is still on!
If you haven't purchased your yearbook yet, there is still time to order online. Our yearbook advisor, Melody Alspach, wants to see what you are doing/learning as you shelter-in-place. Please email her pictures that may be included in the yearbook. If you have any pictures of previous school activities, feel free to send those as well. If we do not return to school this year, Lifetouch will mail books to those who have purchased one.
Ordering and picture submission information: Pictures can be emailed to Melody at malspach@eesd.net. Pictures need to be at least 1MB. If you email a picture that is on an iPhone, please choose the “actual size” option. The yearbook deadline is approaching. ALL PICTURES SHOULD BE EMAILED TO MELODY BY APRIL 12TH.
To order your yearbook go to ybpay.com. Our school code is 11517120.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
A: Our library system has a feature that automatically generates and sends overdue library notices. Until it was brought to our attention, it was one of those things we didn't think about. The feature has since been turned off. You shouldn't receive overdue library book notices going further.
Q: When will we be able to return library books and/or completed packet work?
A: Our main focus right now is making sure we are prepared to move forward with distance learning on April 14th. After that, we will look at safe ways to bring in library books and completed packets that parents wish to return.
Q: I ordered spring pictures. How and when will I receive them?
A: Lifetouch has been contacted about spring pictures. Like many businesses, they do not have employees coming in to complete non-essential work at this time. They cannot give a timeframe as to when this will happen until some of the restrictions by the state/country have been lifted. They do have the images, so my best guess is there will be a delay in receiving these pictures. How you will receive the pictures is still unknown at this time.
Q: I ordered a yearbook. Will BC still have one for 2019-20?
A: The answer is yes. Please see the Yearbook section of this newsletter.
Q: Is graduation canceled?
A: At this point, the chances don't look good. However, it is still too early to make the definitive call. We have not canceled our reservation at the graduation venue yet.
