Welcome to 2nd Grade!
Miss Leestma's Class 2015-2016
Happy New School Year!
Hello!
I am so pleased to be your child's teacher this year. I am happy to have already seen many familiar faces visit me in our new classroom. I know it is going to be a great year.
For those of you who don't know me (or those who want to know more), this will be my sixth year teaching in Royal Oak. I have spent the last 4 years at Keller and could not be happier with the people I work with and the students and families I see everyday. I am a Royal Oak resident and went to Royal Oak Schools as a student. Old habits die hard I guess! I am glad to be a lifelong member of this community. I'm sure I will see some of you around town throughout the year.
I graduated from Alma College with a degree in Elementary Education and I received my Masters Degree from Oakland University in Reading and Language Arts.
I have had a busy summer! I bought a house, got a puppy, traveled to Europe with my sister, and now I'm beginning the school year in a new grade. Whew!
I am excited to have the opportunity to teach 2nd Grade. I can't wait to see what this year will bring. If you need anything from me you can email me at leestmak@royaloakschools.org. You can also call me at x3515, or chat with me at the end of the school day.
I hope to see everyone at Curriculum Night on September 17th from 6:30-7:15 pm. This is a chance for you to meet other parents, hear about the curriculum, and learn about our classroom procedures. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you.
Here we go!

This orange folder needs to come back to school EVERY DAY. This is how your children will bring home important information and all of their other 2nd grade treasures.
The Reading Log can be kept at home, but please return this at the end of each month. More on this later!
Below you will find the address to our classroom website. Check it out! This is where you will be able to find future newsletters and other important class information.
