Week of January 31, 2022
"Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Our "Essential 36" manner of the week: “Don’t brag or be a sore loser.”
Mrs. Hoesing’s class ROCKED the announcements this past week! Some were nervous and timid at first, but after we practiced, and talked about having “GRIT”, they ran away with it! Mrs. Massey’s 2nd grade class will assist this week.
Students participating in the “Kids’ Connection” experience began their first group last WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26. They all left their group time excited about next week. Our presenter is Stephanie Choice, and she has already made quite an impression!
Last week, Mrs. K. met with a couple of the 4th grade Peace classes, and students completed a career/interest inventory. It was fascinating to hear the kids share which careers matched their interests. She began her lesson by reading the book When I Grow Up by Weird Al Yankovic and the kids loved it! Mrs. K. encouraged students to take home their career inventory and share it with their parent(s). All school counselors are required to present information on college/careers/military but if you would like more information on how to support early career conversations at home, click here.
For fun family activities around the area, click on this week’s edition of Kids Out and About. You can also sign up for their weekly newsletter.
