From Mrs. Kalis
Every student also received a copy of the picture book, Word Collector. Reading at home is so important and we hope you enjoy reading this book with your child. Along with the book, your child received a vocabulary sheet because the book is all about learning new words and their meanings. If your child fills it out and returns it, they will get their picture taken for a bulletin board at school! We will be doing several activities throughout the year at school that relate to the book, Word Collector. Our marathon groups will tie into the book as well as activities at STEAM Night, Book and Bike Night, etc. Happy reading!
Don't forget, on Tuesday, October 8 from 5:00-5:45 I will be meeting with parents about any school topic on their mind. The meeting will take place in the Renner Media Center. Childcare will not be available, but I will provide snacks.
Enjoy your weekend!
Sasha

Nominate a Staff Member for the Park Hill STAR Award
Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.
That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee. Anyone can nominate an employee for this award by using the form below. It asks you to share how your nominee demonstrates our district values of continuous improvement, high expectations, integrity, visionary leadership and student focus. You can also share how your nominee supports the goals in our district’s strategic plan.

PTA Reflections
National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. The theme for the 2019-2020 program year is Look Within. Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.
