CIS Weekly Updates
2022-2023 #8 October 10-14
PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
Thursday marks the end of the 1st quarter and it is also a conference night (no school) for our teachers and families. If you have signed up to come then we thank you in advance for partnering with us to support your child's learning.
Every student needs to have a pair of headphones to use with their computer. The good news is they can be cheap earbuds! MANY of our students don't have headphones and teachers have been encouraging them to get a pair soon. Any help is much appreciated.
Students and staff have no school on Friday. It is a teacher compensation day. Please enjoy the long weekend with your family!
Have a WONDERFUL week!

Why Does Good School Attendance Matter?
Showing up matters for R.E.A.L. It is an opportunity to:
Build Routines
Increase Engagement
Provide Access to resources
Support Learning
Routines: Daily attendance routines, created at home or in school, can reduce stress for students and families and create a sense of safety and security, especially after chaotic transitions.
Engagement: Being in school helps students to get to know peers, teachers and school staff, and to create trusting relationships that motivate students to participate in learning.
Access to Resources: Schools help students and families gain access to basic resources such as meals, physical and mental health services, and fun enrichment activities including sports, clubs, music, afterschool and summer programs.
Learning: Learning is most meaningful when it is active, social, and allows students to apply concepts to real life situations. Showing up to school regularly helps students engage in learning that builds proficiency in reading and math that will help them to graduate from high school.RISE Group with Mrs. Beal

COVID-19 & ILLNESS AT CIS
ODH recommends schools follow general isolation procedures from the CDC for confirmed cases. If students or staff feel sick or suspect they might have COVID-19, they should stay home and take a rapid test. If positive, students and staff should stay home from school for at least 5 days and longer if necessary until fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and symptoms are improving. Additionally, after isolation ends, students and staff should continue to take precautions as they resume normal activities by wearing a mask for 5 days (or after two negative tests 48 hours apart).
