My Thoughts on Greek Culture
Be Quick and to the Point
I've only been in Greece for one week know and I can already see a plethora of differences between the culture here and the culture I have grown accustomed to from living in America. One thing that has really stuck out to me is that the people here are very decisive, intentional, and quick in their actions. For examples, at the local supermarket, I don't see people standing in one aisle for hours on end trying to decide what brand or flavor or scent they want to buy. They come in, get what they need, checkout, and then leave. I don't know how many times I've stood in an aisle at Target for 20 minutes trying to pick out a brand of mascara. Another example is when I went to get my nose pierced. I was only in the store for about 10 minutes total, including asking them how much it would be and paying at the end. Every time I have had something like that done in America I have to wait and then have everything explained to me before the process even begins; its usually at least a 30 minute long excursion. I am thoroughly enjoying my time here and have loved experiencing their culture, I'm excited to see what I start to notice as more time goes on!
