Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
This year has really flown! We have seen many fun and exciting events throughout the year, many of which are organised by our wonderful PFA; I thank Vanessa and her team for the work they do to engage our community with the school, and of course, raise funds to support our growth. To our many parent helpers who support reading, sports, excursions, sub-committees and so on throughout the year, and of course to the children — you are the sunshine in our day; I thank you!
Our recent Colour Run was one of the most highly supported events of the year. Foundation to Y6 enjoyed the fun. Many children raised money to participate in the run – thank you to everyone who contributed. The money will help support our new play spaces once the works begin.
A special shout out to those students who raised a substantial amount – Jackson in Y1, Zerrin in Foundation, Eli in Y2 and Rebecca in Foundation all raised a huge amount of money for the school!
Parkhill is indeed a unique and special place to be!
GRADUATION:
Last night we hosted our Y6 Graduation. What a fabulous event – the children were absolutely amazing in their presentation of slam poetry, which is linked to their Inquiry learning 'Care for the Kids' – student voice at its best. I would like to congratulate the Y6 team and everyone involved in Graduation – what a wonderful evening. The Roger Beech Hall looked amazing, as did the Science Kitchen space. The children really did us proud!!
Andrea Crane, Chris Logan and Karin Moorhouse did a wonderful job this year with many people commenting it’s the best yet! I know there were many people behind the scenes who helped too – thank you!
HOLIDAY FUN:
There are so many things to do over the holidays: arts, crafts, cooking, exhibitions, films, galleries, libraries, museums, nature and wildlife, out and about, performances, and much more. The links below are awesome for holiday fun information:

Parent Class Reps
A big thank you to all of our Parent Class Rep volunteers this year. Your assistance in organising class helpers, year level social events and helping out with various school activities has been wonderful. Your work really does add so much to the Parkhill community. Thank you!!
SRC Toy Drive
Many thanks to the fabulous Parkhill community for your support of the SRC Toy Drive. This year we collected over 180 gifts for underprivileged children in the eastern suburbs. The gifts ranged from books, to balls, dolls and games and I'm sure there will be a few extra smiles on Christmas morning as a result.
Thanks to the SRC for all their hard work this year, they have been awesome to work with - a true team. Thanks also goes to Jo and Steph for their assistance with managing events and Elaine for being such a great sport and allowing us to tape her to the wall.
Don't forget the plain clothes day tomorrow! No gold coin is required, just add a little Christmas bling.
See you next year!

Annual Y6 vs Teacher Netball Match
With a covering of cloud in the sky and the chattering of Foundation to Y5 students surrounding the court, the much awaited annual Y6 vs teacher netball match was held. Tensions were high on Monday as Y6 plotted to steal the win from the teachers. The first quarter was tight and teachers soon realised that this was not going to be an easy walkover. Beads of sweat glistened on teachers' brows as they worked hard to keep their young rivals at bay. The resulting outcome was as it should be and once again Parkhill teachers triumphed.
Many thanks to all the staff and students who participated in the game and supported both students and teachers from the sidelines. Special thanks to Fran Ditton for her assistance in refereeing the eagerly awaited game.
Y5, the challenge is now passed to you. Can you beat us next year?

A message from Vanessa……
The PFA would like to thank everyone for their support, time and energy helping out at, and attending all our fundraising activities this year. Thanks also to Elaine, Michelle, Jo and Steph for their part in making it all happen.
It has been great to see you all at our various events, helping to make them such a success. From cake stalls to comedy, each event contributes to our overall fundraising efforts. The highlight of the year for the students was definitely the Colour Run and they did an amazing job getting more in sponsorship than any other fun run. A huge thanks must also go to each of them for making the day so successful and fun.
Our fundraising this year will contribute towards new playground equipment for our emerging new play spaces. We can’t wait to see it all take shape in the coming months.
10 Years of Service
Congratulations Lisa J! 10 years as a committed member of Parkhill’s PFA is amazing. Lisa has filled many roles during her time on the PFA and 2019 will see her final year with us. For anyone that has had the pleasure of working alongside Lisa, her wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm regarding PFA events is endless. Thank you for what you’ve achieved for Parkhill and their families.
PFA 2019
At this time of year we know it’s hard to think past tomorrow, but if any time during the year you’ve had a fleeting thought or light bulb moment of how you could assist the PFA, we would love you to join us.
At the beginning of each calendar year all PFA executive positions are declared vacant. Please keep an eye out early in 2019 for the date of the PFA AGM. You will find it via our usual methods of communication – Newsletter, Facebook and Flexibuzz. This is a great opportunity to come along and see what it’s all about.
Finally….
Once again we would dearly like to thank all the volunteers and generous supporters of our activities - your help makes everything possible. We look forward to working with you all again in 2019. It is wonderful to be part of this positive Parkhill community.
We wish you safe and happy holidays!
Warm regards,
PFA
