Math
6th grade math students completed chapter 8 on Friday with a unit test. These grades have been posted to powerschool. Parents please take note of your student's grade and if they did not do well, ask your child to bring the test up on Illuminate and have them show you their homework assignments (and answer keys.) Every test question is done as part of homework during the unit, explained in class and fully worked out answer keys are posted for the children to use as study guides. If your child did not do well, chances are they are not making the right level of effort on their homework, or not asking questions of the things they do not understand or not practicing the assigned problems (actually redoing the problems) as they prepare for their test. I have told the children many times that this content is not going away, it will be used next week, next year and throughout their math careers in high school and college. If they did do well, give them a high five and take them out for a treat. : )
Art
ACTS visual arts will have a bake sale on Feb. 22 to raise money for non-consumable tools for our art room that otherwise does not fit in our yearly budget. Please consider helping us out by sending bake sale items (baked goods - store bought or home made, candy, canned sodas, chips, etc) on Feb. 21 or 22. Art students who bring bake sale items will receive extra credit. Please wait to send items until Feb. 21 so that they do not go bad. Thanks!
Production Technology
Prod Tech will continue working with coding on Code for Life and working with our new robot! We will be working both independently and in small groups--students should bring their cooperation skills to class each day!
Social Studies
Students will continue to learn about the Middle Ages. They will learn about feudalism, King John and the Magna Carta, the bubonic plague, and the Crusades.
Language Arts

The students will be working with the beginning of the Life Science Unit. Their focus is the common characteristics of all living things. There will not be a test this week. There will be assignments due on USA Test Prep and Study Island this week. Please help me to encourage the students to complete these assignments on time.
