Kinder/First Grade
Kinder and first grade students are working on how they can determine the quality of a play dough process and how do the play dough materials change when they are mixed together. They will learn that engineers use their knowledge of science to help them design and improve technologies. They will have to design test and establish criteria to measure the efficacy of a play dough process.
Second Grade
Second grade students are working to use the steps of the Engineering Design Process to design a water filter to clean non-toxic contaminated water. The students will learn that sometimes increasing the performance of a design on some criteria (e.g. making cleaner, clearer water) will decrease its performance on other criteria (e.g. cost). The second grade students will use their knowledge of how different filter materials work, their creativity, and the engineering design process to design and improve a water filter that cleans contaminated water.
Third Grade
Third grade students are using the steps of the Engineering Design Process to create a factory subsystem that uses simple machines to make work easier. They will have to test and analyze the performances of their subsystems. Then, they will use their analyses to brainstorm ways to improve their subsystem designs.
Fourth Grade
Fourth grade students will use the steps of the Engineering Design Process to design a maglev transportation system. They will use their knowledge of the properties of magnets, the Engineering Design Process, and their creativity to design a maglev transportation system. They will plan, create, and test their designs, noting what worked well and what did not.
Fifth Grade
Fifth grade students will test to see which earth materials make a good mortar that is sticky (adhesive) and durable). They will observe and describe properties of earth materials when they are dry and when they are wet. After that, they will make predictions about which earth materials will produce the strongest mortar.

Sixth Grade
Sixth grade students are using DC motor arduino and Little Bits to create their own remote control cars. Students are also using Makey Makey. Makey Makey allows you to take everyday objects and combine them with the internet. Using the alligator clips attached to any conductive material you can control the keyboard of your computer, such as the space bar, arrow keys and left click of the mouse.
Seventh & Eighth Grade
Seventh grade students are working on infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. They can improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance the human visual system's ability to see patterns and trends. An infographic (information graphic) is a representation of information in a graphic format designed to make the data easily understandable at a glance. People use infographics to quickly communicate a message, to simplify the presentation of large amounts of data, to see data patterns and relationships, and to monitor changes in variables over time.
