Reveur House Cheer
Rêveur is a royal House whose name in French means “dreamers” or “idealists” — because the members who fill this group are students filled with freedom and wild abandon who recognize their dreams and will let nothing stand in the way of achieving them.

Hello Parents!
This year we are partnering with SchoolStore to raise funds to help purchase essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed. SchoolStore provides an easy and safe way to raise money. Everything occurs online- including sending emails to family and friends and tracking prizes on the prize gauge.
Your students will be bringing home an envelope with information about this great program. After reviewing the information, please go to www.schoolstore.net to get signed up. Your child will receive a Wild Republic Hugger animal prize just for participating (no purchase necessary).
After signing up, students will fill in the information on the envelope and bring it to their teachers to receive a prize.

Lunch Visitors Welcome Starting September 11th
All lunch visitors must follow established check-in and check-out procedures. Due to space and safety concerns, lunch visitors are restricted to parents/stepparents/guardians, non-school-aged siblings and grandparents (accompanied by a parent or with written permission from a parent), and campus mentors. Visits will be limited to the 30-minute lunch period. Due to space limitations at the elementary level, no exceptions to the list of approved visitors can be made. Lunch visitors do not include aunts, uncles, friends, or neighbors. In addition, lunch visitors are limited to three (3) guests per student per day except on days designated by the campus as a special event (i.e. Grandparent Day).
Please remember you are only allowed from the front office to the cafeteria and back to the front office. You may not go to the student(s) class, library or anywhere else on campus. You may NOT remove your student from the cafeteria. If you'd like to check your student out, please return to the front office and let the ladies know you'd like to check your student out for the day. Your cooperation in keeping our student's safe is appreciated.
Please use the Lunch Vistor Sign Up to reserve a slot.
Checking Students In and Out
The cutoff to check your student out from the front office is 3:00PM. Please make sure you bring your picture I.D. every time you request to come in.
**If a Parent is sending someone else to pick up their student, the parent must send BOTH a dated handwritten note authorizing the person picking the student up (provide the person's legal name and date of birth) and a picture I.D. to SESOffice@katyisd.org before the person arrives on campus. This applies every time you send someone, even if it's the same person.

KEYS MENTORING
We are searching for campus mentors!
The KEYS Mentoring program (Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success) has been so helpful to our students in Katy ISD. I'm sure you are aware that mentoring creates a positive impact in youth’s lives. They find more self-confidence, self-esteem, and are able to create big goals for themselves. Our goal is for every student who needs a mentor to have one. No waitlists, or students who go without because we are short. If you are open to mentoring or know someone who would love to mentor at Schmalz, please complete or share the application at the link below and be sure to choose Schmalz as your mentor campus. Likewise, if you would like your student to have a mentor, please contact one of the school counselors for more information.

Request to Reopen Gate
I hope this message finds you well. I have received your petition and empathize with your request. As we navigate ongoing changes in our world, student safety remains our top priority. After careful consideration and in consultation with Katy ISD safety and security, we have decided not to reopen the gate located at the intersection of Spruce Tree Line Trail and Coopers Ridge Way.
While I understand that this will impact your routines, please know that this decision is rooted in our commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of our school community. Although I know that this might not be the answer you were hoping for, I know that the community will continue to support the campus and our desire to put student safety first.

Katy ISD is proud to partner with Texas Book Distribution to host an in-person author visit with award-winning author Chris Barton. Chris (www.chrisbarton.info) is an author of more than 20 published books for young readers. His books — both fiction and nonfiction — have been named to more than two dozen U.S. state lists and received national honors. Chris is the author of picture books including bestseller Shark vs. Train, Sibert Honor-winning The Day-Glo Brothers, and Whoosh! Lonnie Johnson’s Super-Soaking Stream of Inventions, included on 21 state lists. Other recent titles include How to Make a Book (About My Dog) and Fire Truck vs. Dragon.
This visit will take place on Friday, October 13th! Our 3rd and 4th grade students will participate in the visit during their Specials time. During the "Write What You'd Love to Learn" presentation, Chris provides an overview of himself and his work as an author. At the end, he will read from Shark vs Train for 3rd grade and Whoosh! for 4th grade and use it as a jumping-off point for an age-appropriate discussion of research, revision, and/or collaboration.
If interested in purchasing books by Chris Barton:
Parents interested in purchasing books signed by Chris Barton can do so through PayN’Go. Whoosh! Books are $6.92 tax included and can be purchased in English or Spanish and Shark vs.Train are $16.44 tax included hardcover books only available in English.
You can learn more about Chris and his books at his website: https://chrisbarton.info/
