Using Self-Introduction Videos and Headshot Photos
Self-introduction videos to attract students, establish social presence, and build community in your course.
What: Will record a two-three minute video (and/or take a professional headshot photo)
When: During Week of Welcome on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.
This service will be provided each semester during Week of Welcome or by appointment.
Why: Self-introductions can be used to attract students to take your course. Or, as one of the first things students see when they begin your course, they give your students their first impression of who you are as a person and as an instructor. One study showed that students in an online course with an introduction video contributed more often to the weekly discussion boards and the end of course evaluations were more positive.
Where: Media Center Studio (Learning Commons Building, 1st floor)
Note: All videos are required to be closed-captioned. Once your video is completed, you will receive a captioned text file. Please correct the file, send the corrected file back to us, and the final version will be posted.
