It's a Pirate's life for me!
What an amazing week! Thanks for everyone that made last week such a huge success and could not have made it work without everyone chipping in. We appreciate all of our book fair volunteers and those that participated in our Read In Night. We also enjoyed our Read Across America Week guest readers, including our Adopt-a-school partners- 2nd Regimen Headquarters Company. We appreciate teachers flexibility to try something new with our character parade since the weather was not cooperating. Everyone really had a blast getting see the students and staff dressed up in some amazing book characters. This week we kick off with our PaPa John's Spirit night on Tuesday 4-8 pm. The Strategic Planning Team meeting is cancelled for this month. On Thursday we will have an early release day. That means lunch schedules will vary and car riders will be released at 12:05. Bus riders will arrive 3 hours earlier than usual. Students will also get to participate in our SBES Career Day on Thursday, so it will be a fun and busy day! Thursday is also our Frosted Spirit Night so swing by there for a little pick me up. Don't forget that Monday, March 16th is a workday. There will be no school for students on March 16th. For our 5th grade families- the New Bridge lottery is now open but closes March 13. Check out New Bridge Middle School's website for details. If you would like to donate a side or dessert for the teacher luncheon coming up on March 19th please text Nicole Freres at 910-320-3648 or email her at mark-nic@hotmail.com by March 12th.
Important Car Pool Procedures
Communication Expectations:
Teacher Workday Hours: 7:30 am - 4 pm
Administrators Hours: 7:30 - 4:30 pm
Please keep in mind that while we understand the importance of our jobs, we also understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work life balance. If you send a message (email, text, voicemail, etc.) outside of working hours, you will likely not receive an immediate response. Our staff will do our best to reach out to you within 48 hours of your request. Please keep in mind that during the day our top priority is providing direct services to our students. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We encourage you to refer back to the newsletters provided by the school and individual teachers for information regarding events & expectations, and PowerSchool regarding attendance & assignments/grades. Thanks!
A few reminders...
* Don't forgot that you can also nominate a teacher for our Teacher of the Month by clicking on the link on our school's website or completing a paper nomination in the main office.
* Due to a growth in student population, we no longer have room in our cafeteria to accommodate lunch guests. If you come to eat lunch with your student, you will have to eat outside in the courtyard. Please check the weather before making lunch plans.
* The OCS policy states that students must be fever free without medication as well as no vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school. Tis' the season, so please remind your child to wash hands frequently, cover their coughs, and keep hands out of their mouth. We will be reminding them here at school as well and hopefully we can get through cold/flu season with minimal sickness.
* Our no check out zone is from 2:55-3:15 and we do not accept changes in transportation over the phone. This is for your child's safety. Please send in a note and a follow up email to your child's teacher is helpful as well. Just as students don't always give you paperwork from the school, they also sometimes forget to turn in notes from home.
