Meet Your Teacher
Hello, my name is Callie Spurgeon. This is my eigth year teaching and my second year here at Pioneer Trail. I grew up in Jefferson City and graduated from Jefferson City High School in 2009. GO JAYBIRDS! Jay Pride never dies, once a Jay always a Jay!
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education while playing basketball at Central Methodist University, in Fayette, Missouri. Last year I finished my Masters in Elementary Administration at Northwest Missouri State University.
This summer I got engaged to my fiance, Collier Nichols. We will be getting married in October 2021! We also bought a new house and spent most of our summer days in our pool!
I am a proud Mom to my five year old daughter Hadleigh Pearl, my nine year old step daughter Addison, and our Boston Terrier pup, Harvey Eugene! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, attending sporting events, and going to the beach and pool!

Daily Schedule
Parent Forms
Below are some links of information that I'd love for you to fill out. I will send these home in paper copies as well on the first day of school... please make sure that you fill one or the other out but not both.
What to Bring to School Daily
All children need a backpack to transport their belongings to and from school. Please make sure to check your child's backpack each day for homework, announcements, and notes/ important information from school.
Also Check your child's take home folder nightly and remove what is on the "leave at home" side. Return (complete or sign if necessary) what is on the "bring back" side to school the next day.
Classroom Economy
Every month each student will be paid $20 in our classroom money/ DOJO points. They will be paid for positive behavior. At the end of each month your child will be able to use their money to shop our matrix store.
I will also use Class DOJO to keep track of their "money" or "points" each week, so they can track their BUDGETS each month!
Birthdays
Please let me know if your child wishes to bring in treats to celebrate their special day! I truly enjoy celebrating with them, but time is limited so keep it as simple as possible. Wrapped or store bought treats are REQUIRED due to COVID guidelines school-wide. Please send all necessary items along (plates, napkins, etc.).
Snacks
Since 5th grade eats a little later lunch, we will have a snack time. I ask that you please make sure that the same is QUICK and EASY and does not require utensils. Some examples of great snack ideas would be pretzels, cereal, granola bars, grapes, goldfish, etc.
WATER IS THE ONLY DRINK THAT STUDENTS CAN HAVE IN THE CLASSROOM!
Classroom Rules
Listen when someone else is talking.
Follow directions the first time they are given.
Treat EVERYONE with kindness and respect.
Take care of our school and classroom.
Work and play safely and quietly.
Keep your DEAR teacher happy.
Homework
Your child may have homework. This could be reading for the night or a few math problems. I do try to keep all work inside the classroom, but there will be times when they will have things sent home to complete.
Virtual Learning
IF there comes a time when virtual learning comes our reality, I DO HAVE A PLAN! I have worked extremely hard in the past few weeks to make this as easy and fluid as possible on the students, you as their parent, and also myself as their teacher!
