#AESStaffStayingConnected
March 29-April 3
We Got This!
Tomorrow, you will be going on a new adventure with your students, grade level teams, and families. I am sending out positive vibes your way for a successful first day launch. I know that this time has been very stressful, time consuming, and anxiety filled. Know that you all are amazing educators and that it will be okay if something doesn't go perfectly or a lesson is a complete flop. There is always tomorrow, and we are pushing "give grace." Give grace to your students, give grace to your families, and, most of all, give grace to yourself. In eight weeks from now, I am hoping that we all can look back on this time and reflect on the positives that have come about from these unprecedented times. Know that I am here for you, cheering you all on, and ready to chip in with whatever you need! Remember to take time for yourself, enjoy time with your family, and know that it is okay to grieve the things that you are not getting to do on a regular basis. Sometimes a good cry is needed. Thinking of all of you!

Schedule for Learning Opportunities
Overview of the Weekly Schedule
Verbiage to Parents: Once again, we know some parents want MORE than what we provide and some parents will be overwhelmed by what we provide. I cannot stress this enough: please do what works for you and your family. These are optional learning opportunities for our students to engage with their classroom teachers and classmates (staying connected) while also keeping them exposed to some content. Our number one priority is still our families’ social/emotional health and well-being. Please do what works for you and your family.
- A student not logging in regularly: Check in with the family to see if they are doing okay and need any support from us. Let me know if you notice a pattern with anyone.
- Red flags: While on Zoom or any other video platform, if you notice anything that indicates child abuse/neglect, you are still mandated to make a report with the state. Please be cognizant of this as we enter this new territory.
- Optional Additional Activities: You can still provide your families with additional learning opportunities. Just make sure to let them know that they are optional and not mandated.
- Continue connecting with your students. Please check in on them whether through email, phone call, or letters. They love hearing from their teachers!

Let's SOAR Together: Alward Champions in Our School Community and Beyond
- Please help us recognize students, staff, families, and community members that are Championing for our students, schools, and community! There are so many going above and beyond in creative ways that we would like to recognize them for their efforts. Please fill out the attached google form. We will recognize them on Fridays at 10 am during our Facebook Live event and in the next weeks school update. I will also send them a card of thanks from our school community!
- This quote really exemplifies the times we are going through and where we need to turn our eyes to during these difficult times. "When I was a boy and saw scary things on the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'...I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers - so many caring people in this world." --Mr. Rogers
Connecting with the community!
- If you would be interested in making homemade cards for our healthcare workers, please feel free to fill out this Google Form by Wednesday, March 25th! We will coordinate how the cards will be picked up after we know how many families want to participate. Thank you so much!
