Happy Friday Kipling Families!

The cherry on top of another great week was definitely ending with some warmer weather! I continued to be impressed with how hard our students work to persevere during a challenging task and the support they get from their teachers as they develop their growth mindset while learning a new skill.

Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 8th and there IS SCHOOL on Friday, November 11th.

Have a wonderful weekend! I hope you can get outside and enjoy the warm weather!

SEL Spotlight (Social Emotional Learning)

One word…PUMPKINFEST!! Being new to the Kipling, it was awesome seeing the community come together to have fun and celebrate with each other. I loved being able to continue to meet more Kipling families, getting a preview of students' Halloween costumes, and seeing students let loose while visiting all of the activities. A big thank you to everyone who made Pumpkinfest possible! Thank you to the PTO and all the volunteers, without all of your support Pumpkinfest would not have been what it was! I cannot wait for next year!

Kip Cash Reward

The students reached their first Kip Cash goal and we will be celebrating with pajama and stuffed animal day on Wednesday!! Stuffies should be able to fit into backpacks and pajamas should be school appropriate.

Halloween

Halloween will be here before we know it. We wanted to make sure families have all of the details for Halloween at Kipling!

  • The school and office are very busy on this day. If you avoid picking up your child during lunch/recess on this day we would really appreciate it.

  • Costumes

    • Students will change into their costumes AFTER lunch

    • No weapons or costumes that depict violence or are inappropriate for school

    • If a costume requires makeup/face paint the student must be able to apply it independently

  • Parade

    • Students will exit out the main entrance, walk around the entire school, and enter back through the main entrance

    • If there is inclement weather the parade will take place inside the school

  • Timeline

    • 2:15-2:40 - Costume Parade

    • 2:40- 3:15 - Class Party

    • 3:15 - 3:25 - Clean-up + Dismissal

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Mark your calendars! We will hold our annual parent-teacher conferences on Monday, November 21 in the evening and all day on Tuesday, November 22. All D109 schools will hold in-person parent-teachers conferences this year with an option to Zoom for parents/guardians who are not available for an in-person conference.

We will have parents sign up for a conference using Sign-Up Genius. I will share links for all teacher sign-up forms on Tuesday, November 1, at 5:00 pm.

It is best practice to hold one parent conference per child, to ensure that both parents receive the same information regarding their child’s strengths and needs. Therefore, I ask that parents sign up for one joint conference per student. We look forward to seeing all of our parents during conferences.

Conferences are a discussion between parents and teachers. At this time elementary conferences do not include students and therefore we ask that children not attend the parent-teacher conference.
