Saint Kateri School's Weekly Newsletter ~ May 4, 2020
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
We are truly blessed to have so many fabulous Teachers at Saint Kateri School.
Thank you to everyone who has participated in the Love Letters for the teachers.
Did this "homework" fall off your radar? No worry ~
we have extended the deadline to Tuesday, May 5th at 3:00 pm.
We Are Feeling All the Feels!
May the Fourth Be With You ~ Happy Star Wars Day! :D
We began this weekend with the news from Governor Cuomo that New York State school buildings would remain closed for the rest of the year and Distance Learning would continue. This is heartbreaking for everyone but we know that it is the right decision to make in order to help our students and staff and their families stay safe. Knowing this doesn't make our hearts better able to handle it.
In my head I understand but my heart is breaking for all the day-to-day things we are missing ~ morning greetings at the door by teachers who love these kiddos, seeing the special bonds the older students have with their Prayer Partners, Principal Read Alouds, Monday Morning Prayer Service, our students signing when they sing at Church, talking with families when they stop in the Office, Dance Party Fridays, seeing students learning together, daily prayer and announcements, and SO much more. Then there are "the biggies" ~ 5th grade End of the Year festivities, Field Day, Kindergarten Celebration and Preschool Moving Up ceremonies, ABC Countdown, Spring Concert and SO much more.
A couple of weeks ago I met with the 5th grade class and asked them what they would miss the most if we were not to return to school this year. Their #1 event was Graduation because it is special and #2 was being able to say good bye to their friends and teachers. They also mentioned Field Day because that is when they would get to have fun with the whole school, together. Our 5th graders will miss the many traditional events that happen as they end their time at Saint Kateri School. They will leave our school and transition into as many as 5 or more Middle School placements ~ this is their last year to all be together like this.
As we move forward into these upcoming weeks we will have to get very creative in ways to CELEBRATE and to say goodbye to the 2019-2020 school year. More details on how this will look coming soon!
Thank you all for supporting the Distance Learning as the teachers at home. You deserve appreciation too! Have a great week!
God bless ~

This is what we know ~
Also understand that everyone is doing the very best that they can with the pieces they are responsible for. Remember that none of us has ever been in this situation before and we are navigating all we are doing in collaboration with those that can advise us appropriately.
- There will be a supply Pick-Up Day in the near future. This will look similar to the Drive Thru Niagara Chocolate pick-up or the initial Drive Thru pick-up in March. Students and parents will not be allowed in the building. Details to follow
- Tuition payments will continue to be collected for the remainder of the year. Our teachers continue to provide Distance Learning for their students and students are expected to participate in the best of their ability. If you have specific payment questions or concerns OR if your financial situation has changed since the time of COVID-19, please email me or Annette Syracusa directly.
- Will the 2019-2020 school year end sooner than scheduled? This is unknown right now and we will make you aware of any updates when we hear them.
