BLOCKS PTO Meeting- February 28th 2023
Principal’s Update:
February 17th- Alarm accidentally set off at FHS- False Alarm
FHS BLOCKS classroom evacuated the building with support of high school students helping in the classroom
Decision was made to lock down Juniper Hill School as a in an abundance of caution until given the all clear
Taking a look at safety and security measures at both schools- what is working, changes and updates needed, etc.
development of specific exit plan for FHS BLOCKS classroom and additional training for preschool staff at FHS given unique needs being at the high school
Language Testing
If exposed to another language at home- student should be scheduled for English language testing
Testing will consist of teacher observation, multilingual office offering an oral language test
Similar to the Kindergarten entry language testing
Dental Visit Summary from earlier in February
For families that signed up- provided by Health and Wellness
Served approx 40-50 students
Picture Day
Scheduled for April 4th through Coffee Pond
make-up days will be scheduled at the studio and possibly at the school at a later date- time TBD

February 14th- Friendship Day- great success
March 17th- Wear Green Day
Treasurer’s Update:
Balance as of 2/26- $7974.64
Petty Cash- $250
Amazon Smile Donations to date: $42.69
Expenses since January Meeting
MassBallet- $200 (has not been cashed yet)
Fun and Learning Day:
Goal: Providing experiences that students may not have experienced otherwise.
Various themes throughout the years (Olympics, Candyland, Carnival, Camping etc)
Volunteers needed to plan and support day of events
Past vendors (BusyBee Tumble Bus, Pony Rides, Kona Ice etc)
Purchasing individual snacks rather than machines to make bulk food
Permits needed for animal vendors
In past had students from Walsh middle school to assist, but likely will ask parents/ guardians to volunteer this year
Typically scheduled for the first Friday in June with a potential rain date
