So much to say...
Each week, I feel like I could write a book here to keep you updated on our busy days. I will try to keep it brief!! This week we began reading The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes as part of The Global Read Aloud. (Classrooms around the world are reading the same books & connecting to have discussions.) We Skyped with a 3rd grade class from Alabama. I wish you could have seen the excitement in our room!
We continue to work on addition to 1000 in Math. If you haven't signed up for Xtramath using the code I sent home, please do so. A few minutes practicing those facts will really pay off!! Check in with your child to ask about work in other subjects, too.
Next week
No school on Thursday and Friday because of MEA. I will NOT send a newsletter next week.
Fire Safety
Thanks to the LFD for reviewing Fire Safety with us on Thursday! Remember to check your batteries in your smoke detectors :)
Skype
Here's a shot of our Skype session with new friends from Alabama.
Homework
We are working on a Reader's Theater script for next week. It is on Line 5 of RAH. Ask your child his/her part. (Since next week is only 3 days, we won't be starting a new story, but we will be have our Theme 1 reading assessment & do our plays.)
No Speak Up due to the 3 day week. I will send Speak Up for the following week on Wednesday.
Addition practice for Math Homework - due Tuesday, Oct. 13.
