Natural resources and energys

Natural gas
Definition of natural gas: a flammable gas that contains hydrocarbons that is naturally found underground. Natural gas is a fossil fuel formed by intense heat and pressure over time. For americans 24% of our energy is supplied by natural gas. Natural gas heats more than half of the homes in America. Natural gas is also used in paints, plastics, fertilizers, and medicines. Natural gas provides an option of a way for energy.
Hydroelectric energy
Definition of hydroelectric: the mechnical energy that is generated by flowing water. Hydropower first became a source of generating energy in the late 19th century, when farmers used water wheels to grind wheat into flour or corn into powder like the one we saw at Square Boone, The Grilves mill. Hydroelectric power provides around 1/5 of the worlds energy. Although hydropower has advantages it also has disadvantages, hydropower plants destroy wildlife, cause low dissolved oxygen levels in the water, and dam rivers affecting flow.
Natural resource
Definition of natural resource: materials found in nature such as forests, minerals, water, and fertile land. Natural resources are very important to humans as we use natural resources in almost everything. The food and water that provide humans with the sustenance and energy we need to survive. Natural resources appear in everything from the dishes we eat from to the houses we live in.
Geothermal energy
Definition of Geothermal energy: the energy that is generated and stored in the earth.Geothermal energy has been around for thousands of years, originally and still used for cooking and cleaning. In the U.S.geothermal energy is only 1% of energy used by citizens. Advantages are that it can be made without burning fossil fuels which is good because it causes less pollution.
How the words connect?
Our words were natural resource, natural gas, geothermal energy, and hydroelectric energy, the words connect in multiple ways. With natural resources some are nonrenewable and take millions of years to form, like oil which we use faster than the earth can naturally make it. Oil runs our cars, planes, and trains. Another natural resource we use very often in daily life is water, which is used in hydroelectric energy.
Videos
The base word geo means earth and thermal means heat. The base word hydro means water. Geothermal energy and hydroelectric power are hard to remember so here are a few videos to help you remember then.
