Checking Out the Library!

In the library, we have been reviewing expectations and practicing good standards of library use: identifying a resource need (for information or for fun!), using various tools to search for a resource, locating a resource, and collaborating to help one another along the way.

Students in K-2nd grade have been participating in readalouds and discussions related to classroom content. In Kindergarten, we’ve been exploring how punctuation and expression can be used in text. In 1st grade, we’ve been exploring elements of fiction and series books. In 2nd grade, we’ve been exploring character traits and character development.

Students in 3rd-6th grade have also been introduced to the process for this year’s Battle of the Books. We’re happy to say we have the biggest sign-up ever this year with over 120 students participating! Students will work in teams to read a combination new and classic titles to prepare to battle other teams at the school and district level. Ask your student if they signed up and encourage them to read, or read with them! We’re looking forward to the culminating Battles in March!
