2019 - You Future: Are You ALL In?
This week's message gives three important lessons I began learning through a simple gesture I experienced as I entered high school. The important things about learning valuable lessons that improve us as people are that they require continuous implementation, improvement, and guidance along the way.
- First, it was the beginning of something new.
- Second, I could be anyone I wanted if I had the courage to reach out and become who I wanted to be.
- Third, and most important, was that I would be the one making the decisions about how I went forward from there.
I invite you to take the seven minutes and listen or at least enjoy the pictures of the graduates for the second half of the video.
Check it out...comments welcome.

On behalf of the Food for Thought club, THANK YOU for your generosity!!
Help Those in Need!
The National Honor Society is collecting new school supplies for SOWMA (Schools on Wheels of Massachusetts). It's an organization that helps provide homeless children in MA with necessary school supplies. Over the summer, SOWMA works to fill backpacks with these donations, which will be handed out to children in need. The collection will run until June 7. Collection boxes will be located in the main office, the library, the school counseling office, and room 272.

Allergy Season
We all love the coming of spring! However, spring allergies soon appear with increased pollen counts and the blooming of leaves and plants. How can you tell the difference between a common cold and seasonal allergies? Here is a very helpful article to reference which will help you decide:

Medication during the School Day
Please refer to the student handbook or the Health Services website regarding medication to be administered by the school RN during the school day. All prescription medications must be in the original prescription bottle with a written MD order and signed parental consent form. These forms may be downloaded from the website. Students are NOT allowed to carry medication with them during the school day. If you have brought in medication for your child to keep in the clinic please schedule a pick-up time with a call to Ms. Baker at 781-618-7452.
Please do not hesitate to call the clinic at any time with any questions/concerns concerning your child’s health- we are here to keep your child healthy!
Athletics - Coach Bob Rodgers
This past Friday we all enjoyed the 2019 Commencement. From an athletic standpoint, we were very proud to see so many of our student athletes graduate. It’s bitter sweet because we will miss their presence but so many of them have left a lasting legacy for others to follow.
The final official celebration for the 2018/2019 school year will take place Tuesday night as all of our MVP’s will be recognized at the annual Kiwanis Banquet. In addition, we will announce the community service winners from Whitman and Hanson as well as the Ed Clark, Sue Moss, Gurney and O’Brien awards/scholarships. This event is open to the entire Whitman Hanson community so if you would like to attend, you are welcome to join us.
The spring season isn’t quite finished. We have many track athletes still training as the girls will compete in the Heptahlon while the boys will take on the decathlon.
Our girls tennis team qualified for the state tournament by beating East Bridgewater, 5-0 in the final match of the season. We were pleased to learn that the girls also earned a preliminary round home contest as they will play host to Bishop Feehan on Monday at 4pm.
The baseball team was disappointed to come up short in their goal of their third straight league title when Silver Lake overtook the Panthers down the stretch. However, Whitman Hanson did bounce back nicely this past week by beating both Cardinal Spellman and Brockton. The final regular season game will take place at Hingham on Monday. With a win, Whitman Hanson can clinch the top spot in the division 2 South Sectional Tournament. The seedings will be announced on Tuesday. There is a strong possibility that the Panthers will earn a first round bye so their first tournament game may not take place until Saturday. However, follow us on Twitter to find out the complete schedule.
