Up Coming Events
- Mentorship - An opportunity for juniors and seniors to mentor a professional in a career field that they have an interest in. This is an great way for students to do career exploration for after high school. The application is below and is due to Denise Hunt the Ashtabula County Education Service Center by Nov. 15 by 12 pm. Application is attached.
- 10th grade field trip to A-Tech - Nov. 26th - 10th grade visit to A-Tech, from 9 am - 1:30 pm, lunch will be served. All 10th grade students are invited to take a visit to A-Tech to explore different career and technical programs. Those students who are interested in attending A-Tech their junior and senior year must visit the program they are interested in. Permission forms were distributed on Oct. 9th when Mrs. Schumann from A-Tech presented to the 10th grade students. These forms must be returned no later than Friday, November 8th.
- Thanksgiving Break - Nov. 27th - Nov. 29th
- ASVAB Testing - December 4th - for all juniors and those senior who sign up in the school counseling office or by notifying Mrs. Wittreich. This test will be used solely for the purpose of career explorations. It will not be sent to the military branches, however, if a student wanted to use it for the military they could.
- ASVAB Interpretations - December 9th - Those students who took the ASVAB will receive their results and explore what possible careers may fit with them.

Juniors and Seniors are allowed visit the college campus through the admission office two times per year that do not count against their attendance. We just need a note from the parent/guardian stating they will be absent and to bring back documentation from an official at the colleges stating the student was there and what day.

If you will be attending one of these events to complete the FAFSa, please make sure that you have your FSA ID. If you do not have it, you will not be able to complete the FAFSA. This is used as an electronic signature.

Kent State Ashtabula's Financial Aid Office is willing to help ANY STUDENT OR PARENT complete the FAFSA or with general information. Please contact them at 440-964-4213.
If you have question about Financial Aid that is school specific, please contact that specific school for the most accurate information.
If you are unable to attend any of the FAFSA Workshops, below is a video that walks you through the process. It is done by an organization in Utah, but it still applies to the students of Ohio.
Senior Information
Nov. 1st is the deadline for Early Decision, Early Action, and scholarship opportunities at many schools. If you are going to apply for a November 1st deadline, please remember to give the school counselors two weeks to send out your transcript and other needed materials.
Letters of Recommendations - If you need a letter of recommendation from a teacher, please give them two weeks to write a letter of recommendation. Think about asking a teacher who you were able to be involved in the class, maybe someone you had for multiple years or as a coach/adviser, or maybe someone who can talk about how you have matured and grow as a student.
You are to put the request on Naviance and to ask in person. Please also provide them with a resume or a list of your activities/accomplishments. Also, if you are applying through the Common App, please politely remind your teachers that they Common App teacher evaluation form must be completed on Naviance as well. The school counselors will not be able to send out the recommendation if it is not completed.

If you are a junior or senior and participate in Free/Reduced Lunch, your school counselor can give you a fee waiver to cover the cost of the test - including late fees. Also, by using a fee waiver you will received additional access to test prep materials for free. Please do not wait until the last day to register to request a fee waiver because the school counselors may not be available.
