"Every child needs at least one adult who is irrationally crazy about him or her."
I Am A Teacher ----------- By Andrea Gastmeier
Each and Every Day,
I lecture, I instruct, I coach, I explain.
I demonstrate, illustrate, clarify, and prove.
I show (and sometimes tell),
I inform, I train, I initiate.
I plan, diagram, map, chart, graph and design.
I question, quiz, probe, examine and confirm.
I care, I worry, I console, I inspire.
I pay attention to, I show concern for, I nurture.
I nurse broken hearts, fix boo-boos,
ease worries, and mend friendships.
I am a teacher. This is what I do.

Welcome back! It’s time to celebrate our 2019 ENVoY data. Five of the 7 Gems had significant implementation increases. Way to go!
As a reminder, if you still need to, please reach out to Kate or Melanie to schedule your semester 1 ENVoY coaching session in the next few days.

I grew up in a small rural town in Minnesota called Norwood Young America. I am the youngest of 4 and am close to my family. I was raised by parents who believed in a “work first, play later” attitude. Perhaps this was because we had a hobby farm with a large garden or because we did not own a TV (I’ve had lots of catching up to do as an adult!). Either way, I would not change anything and am thankful for the values instilled in me.
I attended St. Mary’s University in Winona, MN, graduating in 2006 with a degree in Psychology. I then continued my education at Winona State University, graduating in 2009 with my School Counseling License. I completed my internship within the Rochester Catholic Schools, and have worked at Kellogg Middle School, Pine Island Middle School, and John Adams Middle School. I am starting my 6th year at John Adams.
When not at school, I value my time with my family. My husband, Dave, and I met at college and got married in 2008. We have two children, Lily (9) and Jackson (6), who keep us on our toes. We live in a rural part of north Rochester, and enjoy the quiet and peaceful place we call home. I enjoy gardening, going to the gym, cooking/baking, listening to music, drinking coffee, and starting DIY projects that require my husband to finish.
I look forward to working with a new group of students (6th grade) this school year and getting to know them along with the new staff.
