Land Acknowledgement

Churchill high school would like to acknowledge that our institution sits on the homelands of the Kalapuya people.

In the treaties of 1851 and 1854–1855, and the subsequent forced removals of many Indian people from western Oregon, some of the Kalapuya were moved to the Grand Ronde Reservation and some were moved to the Siletz Reservation. It is important to note that all of Lane County was an important trading and gathering area for camas and other resources.

During the Restoration Era, from 1977 to 1989, Lane County was designated as the Service Area for the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians, the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Indians, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, the Coquille Indian Tribe, and the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Indians.

Churchill high school acknowledges that descendants of the original and Service Area inhabitants of this land are still here today. They are thriving members of our schools and our communities. Countless members of other tribes now also call our community and schools their home.

We wish to thank those original stewards of this land. We as fellow stewards of this land wish to remember that we need to take good care of this land and take good care of all members of our school district and community.

Sports Physicals Required Before Participation

Winter sports: This is a reminder to check your registration status. We do not have resources to check your status for you during the school day. It is very important that you review your registration status and look closely at your physical form. It must be up to date with your physical. If it is not, you will need to get a physical ASAP and will not be eligible to practice on Monday.

Please know this - There are no exceptions. If you don't have a current physical, you will not be allowed to participate. It's a liability thing.

In The Know

COVID EA Position available -

Switching Learning Pathways - Does your student need to change their learning pathway from in-person to online or online to in-person next term? If your answer is yes, you need to fill out the 4J Online/Onsite Learning Change Request Form no later than Monday, November 15th. This information has been shared with parents by the district already but we want to make sure that all of our Churchill families are in the know. If you need access to this form, please go to the following link:

As a reminder, the only 4J online option this year for high schoolers is Eugene Online Academy (EOA). EOA classes are taught by non-Churchill teachers and their classes and curriculum are not affiliated with any of our Churchill classes. Once you make the pathway choice for your student and submit your request form, your student will have to stick with that pathway for the entire trimester.

If your student is happy with the pathway they are currently in, there is no need to submit a form to the district.

School Safety - To keep our school safe, do not open locked doors to let someone into the school. All visitors and students must enter through the front office except before school and at lunch when the three main entrances are open and supervised for students to enter. Sending students and visitors through the front office helps us to know who is on campus and make sure that they belong on campus. In an emergency evacuation, like for a fire, knowing who is on campus could help emergency responders save a life.
