Trojan Times
Updates from the Elementary Office 12.7
Hello North Crawford Families,
I hope this email finds you well and warm on this chilly morning. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming winter concerts. After missing last year's events, I look forward to celebrating the season as as school community. The performance will be in the large gym this year to allow for additional spacing. The program falls under the same guidelines as athletic events. All spectators will need to be masked and while performing students have the option to remove their mask. If you would not like your child to be given that option, please make sure you communicate that with your child's teacher. Families who wish to take their children home a few minutes early at the end of the day are asked to stop in their children's classrooms to check them out with their teacher.
As we begin to have more cooler days, I want to remind families that we have a minimum of 50 minutes of outdoor time a day (unless below 0). Getting in the habit of sending snow pants, boots, mittens, hats, and a winter jacket ensures your child is warm enough for the time outside. If your family needs access to winter clothing, please reach out the us as we have multiple donations available.
I appreciate everyone's help with the survey inquiring about possible examination of applying for the charter school grant for our elementary school. We heard back from over half of our school families. The next step is to conduct more formal small focus groups to ask questions and brainstorm. These meetings will last around 45 minutes and be offered both in person and virtually. Please sign up on the sign up genius. If you would prefer to meet 1:1 or over the phone, please schedule with me individually. There is a video link on the signup genius that would be helpful to have all focus group participants watch ahead of their meeting time. We look forward to gathering your feedback and learning more about our communities' vision of enhanced educational opportunities for our students.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
It is a great year to be a Trojan!
Best Regards,
Amanda Killeen

How Music Can Help Kids Learn Literacy Skills
Most kids are never going to be concert pianists. And that's not at all the goal. In this world, we need to be able to connect with each other and across languages and cultures. Through music, we can build bridges. We can celebrate our shared humanity.” Check out the full article below!
