Dear Rose Parents,
I hope you are enjoying this snowy day and keeping warm inside and safe on the roads! Our Stingrays are loving the snow outside because it adds a whole new element of play at recess! Please read below for important school and district news.
BR PTO Yearbook 2021-22 - Mr. Gonka has been hard at work putting together the yearbook–it is chock full of special moments and amazing memories of this school year. Click on the link above to order one for your child.
Growth Mindset Week - To support our school’s vision cycle goal of “Students and staff will approach their learning with a growth mindset,” this week students have been immersed in growth mindset conversations and activities. Classrooms are competing in a growth mindset door decorating contest, are talking about it with their classes, reading books with growth mindset messages, and listening to morning announcements with positive messages. Additionally, students are getting items as reminders about the importance of growth mindset, including magnets, stickers, erasers, and bookmarks. I encourage you to talk with your child(ren) about growth mindset and have them share what it means to them. A big word for us this week is YET. We are reminding students that a fixed mind may feel that something is not possible or cannot be done. We are empowering them to add the word “yet” when they feel that something is not possible. It just is not possible YET! Through growth, practice, perseverance, and an open mind, all things are possible!
Snacktime at school - We allow students to bring water bottles and healthy snacks to school. Students can drink water throughout the day and each class has a designated snack time. Please do not send your child with drinks in the morning, other than a water bottle. They cannot drink a smoothie, bottle of juice, or Starbucks throughout the morning in class. Also, please send a healthy snack with your child–we do not allow candy, cupcakes, donuts, cake, etc. Thank you for your understanding.
If you are interested in a permissive transfer to another school within the district, or if you are on a permissive transfer, please visit the district website to fill out a request form for the 22-23 school year.
COVID Updates - We have 5 positive student COVID cases reported at Rose School this week and 10 students in quarantine. We have 0 positive staff cases to report. You can also check the district COVID Dashboard for up-to-date district COVID information if you have additional questions about positive cases and quarantines.
Valentine’s Day - Students at Rose will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Monday, February 14th. PTO room parents are planning classroom parties and fun activities to help students celebrate. Students can pass out valentines, but please make one for every student in the class.
Due to space constraints and COVID restrictions, we are not able to have the annual staff/student basketball game this year. We hope to have a staff/student game at Field Day outside in the spring months.
Have a great week!
Regards,
Heather Schumacher, Principal

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS MORE THAN EVER! SAVE THE DATE - February 24, 6:00-7:00 via Zoom
As we start the New Year and hopefully begin our healing from the past year (+)'s trauma of Covid and the losses associated with the virus, it is important we acknowledge the trauma many have experienced - both students and parents, recognize signs and symptoms of anxiety and stress of a traumatic stressor event and embrace tools and techniques that will help us find balance and healing as we move forward post pandemic.
To register for the program, please complete this form. A link to the evening's presentation will be sent 24 hours ahead of the event.
