Kindergarten Connection

Welcome to Our School!

Big picture

From Mrs. Healey

March is a great time to reflect on how "lucky" we have been with St. Patrick's Day right around the corner. Here at the Kindergarten Academy, our staff feels "lucky" to have been in school four days per week since mid-November. Our students are learning and growing so much. Additionally, they are happy to be here.

We are "lucky" to have the parent support to make our model a success. You continue to partner with us to ensure that your child is getting the most out of the school year.

We are "lucky" to have a great Parent Advisory Council. Our PAC has made sure that our students are still being supported at the school by creating a yearbook, collecting box tops for extra school equipment, having a spirit wear sale, helping promote the book fair and recognizing the efforts of all our teachers.

I, personally, feel "lucky" to work with an amazing kindergarten team and alongside supportive families.

Now it's your turn. If you are feeling "lucky" to have a MASD staff member in your family's life, please consider nominating that person for our district's annual recognition of "Outstanding Staff Performance". I have attached a letter, as well as the link , for your consideration.

What are some upcoming date alerts?

The last week of March continues with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday being on a normal schedule with students in school on Monday and Tuesday and then remote on Wednesday. On Thursday, April 1st, our district will be having an Act 80 Day. On Act 80 Days, teachers attend professional development activities and students are off for the day. Also, students will be off on April 2nd for spring recess day.

How is the Parent Advisory Council supporting our school?

This year's PAC participation has been great. The focus right now is putting together a yearbook for our students. Parents have volunteered to put together classroom pages. Several parents came to the school to take additional photos. A core group is putting all of this together so that our students will still get a yearbook despite the uniqueness of this school year. Please see the attached yearbook ordering information. All ordering will be done online.

The next virtual meeting will be held on March 16th at 5:30. Please note the time change for the meeting. A link was attached in the email with this newsletter.

Do you know a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2021?

We are currently enrolling students for kindergarten for 20211-2022 school year. Please pass the word to anyone you may know whose child will be 5 by September 1, 2021. Families are able to complete the online pre-registration now. By doing that, they will then be connected to our registrar, Angie Weber, who will provide them with more information about the process. Again, the online part of the registration should be completed now and then we will start the transition process in May for future kindergarten students giving them an opportunity to attend a Kindergarten Round Up. The flyer is attached below.
