Staff Spotlight: Meet 5th Grade Bilingual Teacher: Mrs. Norman
Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
My parents are from Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. I lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, and Hunts Point, Bronx, in New York before moving to West New York, NJ.
What does your education journey look like?
After high school I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science/International Relations and then a Masters of Teaching in Elementary Education with a concentration in ESL and Bilingual Education. In 2017, I earned my Supervisory and Administrative Certifications.
What is your favorite thing about working at AH?
My favorite thing about working at AH is the sense of family that is felt among staff and students.
When you are not working how do you spend your free time?
I love to read and go to the beach. I also like to spend time with my family, preferably at the beach.
What is 1 item on your bucket list?
I want to own a beach house so we can have Christmas at the beach.
What would your superpower be?
My superpower would be the ability to waive a magic wand and have my house clean itself. I wouldn’t mind having an invisibility cloak like Harry Potter either.
What is a fun fact about you?
I am a blue belt in Taekwondo. Soon to be a purple belt.
