Panther Press - First Day of School
August 18, 2021
Principal's Letter
Hello Panther Families,
In preparation for the start of school on Wednesday, August 18th would like to share a few important pieces of information:
When we return to school current protocols require students and staff to wear masks while indoors in any facility, building or during indoor school-sponsored events. There are no social distancing requirements but it is still good practice to keep space between all staff and students while on campus.
We are excited to engage students in culture building activities each of the first 3 days of school with the intent to ensure students' comfort coming back to school, creating a common experience for all students, and working to build relationships and connections across the campus. Students will attend all of their class periods on August 18, 19 and 20. See below for the bell schedule for the first two weeks.
We would like to especially welcome our incoming 9th grade class as well as new students to our school in grades 10, 11 and 12. We hope that you will find a home here at Vista High School. This panther community established in 1938 continues a rich tradition of academic, athletic and creative excellence. We value each and every one of our students and the members of our Panther community.
If you need assistance with changing your class schedule please use this Schedule Change Request Form.
We are so excited to see everyone back on campus! Have a great year and Go Big Red!

Welcome to the 2021/2022 School Year at Vista Unified!
Remind - New Communication Application!
Vista Unified School District is committed to engaging families as partners in education. We continue to refine our communication systems to provide up to date information about teaching and learning, collaboration, family engagement, and college and career pathways. One important improvement of our plan is to implement a more efficient and seamless communication platform called Remind. The information below provides a preview of this important new feature of our communication plan.
We are excited to share that Vista Unified School District is rolling out Remind district-wide! If you're not already familiar with Remind, it's a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is free to use, and you'll be able to get and send messages on any device—even a simple text message from your phone!
As part of this rollout, official accounts will be created for all the educators, parents, and students. You will receive an email or text message from Remind. All you need to do is follow the steps in the message to finish setting up your account. Here is a video demo to see how Remind works.
We're excited to make connecting with our families more engaging!

School Accountability Reports (SARC)
State law requires all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. A hard copy will be made available upon request at the school site.
The SARC contains all of the following:
- Demographic data
- School safety and climate for learning information
- Academic data
- School completion rates
- Class sizes
- Teacher and staff information
- Curriculum and instruction descriptions
- Postsecondary preparation information
- Fiscal and expenditure data
