Important Monday Information
It has come to our attention that a threat was made on social media regarding La Mesa Junior High. With student and staff safety as our number one priority, school and district administrators have been working throughout the weekend with law enforcement to investigate, and law enforcement has deemed the threat as not credible. School will be open as usual on Monday, but out of an abundance of caution there will be additional law enforcement on campus and in the community.
There were several of you who brought this to our attention through the Student Care Line (661-524-5166). Thank you to those who saw or heard something, and stepped up to say something. The Student Care Line is there to serve the wellness of our students, no matter what the need may be.

Counselor Corner
This week students have learned about Richard E. Cavazos, who in 1982, became the Army's first Mexican-American FourStar General. He was born in Kingsville, TX and served his country for 33 years.
Students also learned about Tamaladas, or tamale-making parties, are hosted at someone's house. Family and friends get together to make dozens and dozens of tamales!
