HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 4 Week 5 - 9 November
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians
With all Saints Day and All Souls Day last week, there was the opportunity to reflect and remember those who have gone before us, and those who have brought us that deeper understanding of the Divine.
Last Friday our Triathletes competed at the competition at Champion Lakes. More later in the newsletter.
With the three Year Old Kindy meeting next Tuesday, followed by the Board meeting, and then with our 4 Catherine assembly on Friday morning and our Grandparents lunch in the afternoon, there is much to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you around!
Information about nominations for the School Board, and the Holy Rosary Community are included in this newsletter and we ask that you consider offering your support to our community in this way. Thank you!
Sunday is Remembrance Day, an important time in the history of our country. You may like to take the opportunity to share a minute’s silence at 11am to honour the fallen.
Sincerely,
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

WEBSITE ABSENTEE FORMS
Apologies to parents who received an SMS during the week saying their child was absent when an absentee form had already been sent by email. There was an outage last Thursday and no website emails came through to the Office. We are required to send an SMS to parents if we have not had an email or note stating a child's absence. Everything should be back to normal now!
School Board/HRC Annual Community Meeting
Everyone is invited to attend the School Board/Holy Rosary Community Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 20 November, commencing at 5:00pm. Please consider nominating yourself, or another willing person, for a position on the Holy Rosary Community Executive or the School Board.
Nominations for both close at 3pm on Friday 16 November and can be lodged at the school office. We need members with an interest in the welfare of Holy Rosary School and a desire to promote Catholic schooling to offer their valuable services to the school community.
The School Board Nomination Form is available from the School Office and you can access the Holy Rosary Community Executive nomination form via the link below. Alternatively, you may collect forms from the school office.
outstanding school fees - update#3
School fees are now well overdue. Thank you to the families who have paid their account in full and to the families who have made contact with the Office enquiring as to whether they have paid their account. The school has financial obligations and is reliant upon payment of its fees. We are in the process of contacting families who have an outstanding account in the coming weeks.
Please see below for payment options.
Holy Rosary Teachers Leading a Brightpath Charge!
Last week we had a visit from Maureen Lorimer who is the Principal Consultant in charge of new initiatives at the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). Maureen heard of the great work that has been undertaken by HR teachers and came to learn about how Brightpath has been implemented in our school, the challenges we have overcome and the benefit we see to our students. Maureen has been around to a number of different schools in different sectors and was also able to provide us with valuable insights on the way other schools have implemented the program effectively. Maureen was particularly interested in how HR Teachers use the Brightpath Data to differentiate the learning and activities during literacy time, as well as how we have used the Brightpath Parent and Student Reports to inform our parents of their child’s achievement and progress.
‘Many thanks for welcoming me to Holy Rosary Primary School on Wednesday. It was an opportunity for me to hear about the impact of Brightpath on student learning and teacher assessment skills. It was obvious to me that your school has made good progress in establishing processes to engage your staff in making consistent judgements and also to use the Brightpath data to differentiate their teaching.’

SCHOOL SPORT WA TRIATHLON
Hot on the heels of the HaleConnect individual’s triathlon, we set off to School Sport WA’s team triathlon at Champion Lakes. With a 200m swim across the cold lake, 6km bike ride and 2km run, Team HR tested themselves physically and mentally. Participating in the Holy Rosary Triathlon team is voluntary – it’s not about places or prizes; it’s about having a go. A great opportunity for our Year 5 and 6 students.
“If you set a goal for yourself and are able to achieve it, you have won your race. Your goal can be to come in first, to improve your performance, or just finish the race - it’s up to you.” Dave Scott (US Triathlete and Iron Man Champion)
Primary School Triathlon
On Friday November 2nd Holy Rosary sent 12 teams to the Primary School Triathlon Championships at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre in Armadale.
In this event student’s work as part of a team to complete a 200m swim, 6km bike ride and 2km run. All of our teams completed their events and had a blast doing it. St Marks Anglican College won the event on the day.
I would like to congratulate our highest placing team Charlie, Aiden and David on finishing 6th in B division, that was a fantastic effort. I also want to congratulate all of our teams for giving one hundred percent effort while smiling the whole time, we were proud of you all.
Special thanks to Mrs Catherall, Mrs Ryan, Brother Stephen and Mr Thuijs for all their help with Hale Connect and the Primary School Championships.
Library News
It’s the race that stops a library! We love watching the Melbourne Cup on our big screens. This year we had years 3, 4 and 5 cheering the horses on and we have enjoyed hearing about the famous horse Phar Lap and borrowing all the horse books. We also have been remembering our brave soldiers this week as we lead into Remembrance Day. Enjoy your weekend.
