Weekly Message

Happy June! We are in the last few weeks of school and each of you continuously impress us. We're so proud of you for your perseverance and flexibility! Lead Mine Strong!

Take advantage of the extra time you get to be with the people you love, to read and learn new interests, and to explore nature!

Mindfulness Corner

Positive Self-Talk

One of the most beneficial mindfulness activities we can do is to practice "positive self-talk." This means that we 1) are sure to say/think kind, meaningful statements to our self and 2) turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts. This practice can be difficult to learn and teach to your student but can foster a lifetime of strong self-esteem and positivity.

Use the picture displayed or this link to start including positive self-talk in your and your family's everyday life.

Positivity Project

This week's trait is PERSEVERANCE.

You complete what you start despite obstacles.
You never give up.

Talk about It: When is a time you have persevered through obstacles? Ask your parent/caretaker an example of when they had to use perseverance.

Read It: The Carrot Seed by Ruth Kraus and/or The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes by Mark Pett & Gary Rubinstein.

Learn more about this week's trait here.

Who are we?

The Student Support Services Team consists of two school counselors (Ms. Carroll and Ms. Ottmer), our school psychologist (Ms. Nivens) and our school social worker (Ms. Vaughan). We support students with social-emotional learning and academics by working closely with the students, LME teachers/staff and parents/caretakers. Our goal is to help students grow into strong collaborators, communicators, and creative and critical thinkers.
