Abiotic Chemicals
PH and Nitrate
What was the weather like on the day of the experiment?
The average temperature outside was 83 degrees. It was very sunny with the wind blowing out of the South towards the North.
Living- Able to grow, consume food, have cells, take in energy, and are biotic.
Non-Living- things that have never been alive, do not grow, do not consumer food, abiotic.
Dead- Were once alive, use to be able to grow, have dead cells, and are biotic.
How Does Energy Enter the Ecosystem?
The main way energy enters the ecosystem is by heat from the sun. Another way is from excess heat from human bodies.
Process of Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis occurs in plants inside the chloroplasts. Plant cells take in light which goes into chlorophyll pigments, which uses carbon dioxide to create carbohydrate molecules (food for the plant,) and produces oxygen.
Process of Cellular Respiration
Cellular Respiration occurs when living things consume food and the chemical energy of the food molecules become captured in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and glucose are all fuels in cellular respiration.
Nitrate: 0ppm
PH: 11ppm
Nitrate cycle
During the nitrate cycle the water cycle also takes place. Once the fish inside the pond consumes food and makes waste the waste goes into the soil at the bottom of the pond, then once it decomposes it becomes ammonium which from there goes to nitrites to nitrates.
