Home School Edition - Volume 4
Happy Easter
In times like these, I like to remember and reflect on God's promise to be with us. God made us, God gave us his Son and God is with us in this time of trouble. We talk about prayer at Unity Preschool and tell the children that prayer is how we talk to God. Prayer is not a last resort, but a loving promise from God that he will hear us. Please join us in praying for those who are suffering from the coronavirus, those who are caring for the ill, those who are serving others and those who are experiencing anxiety. And please know that your Unity Preschool family is praying for you.
Unity Preschool wishes you a joyous Easter celebration filled with family, love, joy and laughter.

Faith Formation Resources
Each week Kathryn McGregor, Unity's Director of Christian Education, is providing a weekly devotion and amazing resources for "Faith Formation during Social Distancing." She has included some wonderful resources for children that focus on the Holy Week and preparing for Easter.

The Easter story, while beautiful, can be confusing to young children. At Unity Preschool, we try to keep things simple and focus on the positive and joyful parts of the Easter story. Remind your children that we celebrate Easter to remember what God did for us, and how much he loves each one of us. Easter is bigger than we can understand, so we do not have to know all the answers to talk with our children about Easter. May you find much joy and love in celebrating Easter just like our sweet Evelyn (Four's) who is waving her palm branch while celebrating Palm Sunday!
Unity Staff - EASTER TRADITIONS
Ms. Danielle: Ms. Danielle is looking forward to doing several Easter crafts from Oriental Trading with her children this week. They will likely have a little different Easter this year and order out. Their family does this jelly bean riddle with Daxton and Colton each year.
Ms. Heather: Ms. Heather's family enjoys using Resurrection Eggs during Easter. They open one egg a night at dinner until Easter Sunday. It’s perfect because it has a story and bible verses that go with each egg. She is using them to tell the Easter story with her Four's class this week. Here is a link to make your own set of resurrection eggs with items around your home:

Ms. Heather's family also decorates eggs and makes crafts that try to combine the fun of Easter baskets and eggs with the real reason for Easter :

Ms. Kelsey: Ms. Kelsey and her family decorated an Easter tree this year. They cut out the shape of eggs from construction paper, then they decorated them on one side and wrote something or someone they are thankful for on the other side. They spent a lot of time doing this and the children loved it. Her daughter, Lily, said, “It is like we are celebrating Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving all in one!”
Ms. Maureen: Ms. Maureen's family tradition for Good Friday is to dye their Easter eggs and make a delicious shrimp dinner. On Easter, her girls wake up super early and look to see what the Easter bunny brought them and then they hunt for Easter eggs in the house. After eating a nice breakfast, they put on pretty Easter outfits and attend to church, but this year they will be watching church on their laptop. After church, they usually visit Ms. Maureen's mom with other family members for Easter dinner.
This Easter cross is one of Ms. Maureen's favorite crafts to do during Easter.

Ms. Jane - GUEST READER
Ms. Jane and her husband, Ralph, have been staying busy doing some projects around the house that they have put off. They have also been sewing face masks for their daughter who is a Veterinarian and still working at an office. Their beautiful garden is benefiting from the extra time that they have and looks great. Lastly, Ms. Jane has been reading (Book#3 of the Game of Thrones series), of course!
