Third Grade Steps Back In Time
Our third graders went on their field trip to Historic Charlton Park in Hastings. They were able to walk around and get a feel what it was like to live in a 1800's pioneer era town. Students made their own candles, did chores and learned what it was like to attend school in a 1 room school house. It was a great day of learning!
Chores
Third graders got a taste of pioneer life doing chores in this 1800's era kitchen.

Wheres The I-Pad?
Third graders learned just as they did in the 1800's. Sitting in a 1 room classroom they learned without the use of technology and with a blackboard.

Science Is Never A Bore In Room #204!
Mrs. Licari ran a neat experiment in her class to teach students about seed dispersal. They dropped seeds of different shapes and sizes from different heights. Then they were able to compare and contrast the results. They learned valuable lessons on how different seeds travel and reproduce to grow the beautiful plants all around us. Its always good to "grow" your knowledge through science and fun!
Growing And Learning
Miss. Osborn's Kindergarten class did a lot of learning this year. They also did a lot of growing! It's amazing what a difference a school year makes! These students are really starting to look like 1st graders! Check out the fun "then and now" photos below!
Dorr Elementary Reading Rally
The 1st through 4th graders at Dorr participated in a 2 hour reading rally. Students bring their favorite books and rotate through 8 different classrooms. Some of the room themes include-beach, bubblegum, book series, poetry, karaoke, flashlight and a $0.10 book sale. Lots of fun and reading is had by all!!
SAFE-ty!
The 4th grade safety crew were treated to a Whitecaps game for keeping watch over the students of Dorr Elementary this year. Safeties have an important role at Dorr Elementary. Not only are they role models for good behavior throughout the year, they watch over the halls and afternoon bus lineup to make sure students are following the rules and getting where they need to go! Dorr Elementary is definitely a safer place with the help this special group of students. Thank you safeties for all you did this year!
It's Not Goodbye, It's See You Later.......
Level 2 is sending off nine 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to new placements next year. Some will be attending Pine Street, others Middle School and some to Hillside Learning Center. Students in this program have made tremendous growth and gains. We look forward to seeing them prosper as they continue on their educational path outside of Dorr Elementary.
4th Grade Talents
Our 4th graders add so much to our building. To celebrate their graduation and move to Pine St., students were asked to participate in a "mock election". Each 4th grade class was given a ballot with 7 areas to vote on. Students could not vote for themselves and could only choose one students for each category. The votes were counted and the results are in! Here are the winners in each of the 7 categories!
