Instructional Focus:
When I was teaching I was constantly looking for new ways to keep students engaged in the lesson. Many times I felt that as soon as I called on a student to answer a question, the rest of the class checked out. Many times cooperative learning strategies such as "tell a neighbor" or "think, pair, share," help. Check out this two minute video for a strategy that keeps students accountable and engaged when their peers are sharing:
Which "Talk Move," was your favorite? How could you incorporate this strategy into your plans this week? What effect do you think it would have on your instruction?
Certified Staff Meeting
Please come on time and bring at least one "IEP at a Glance" with you.
First PD Cafe!!!
I already had a teacher send me this photo after having her students complete a Thanksgiving "Digital Breakout." It's always inspiring as a leader to have people take something that they learned and apply it immediately.
A special thanks to Rachel, Maggie, Rene, and Kristy for taking time out of your schedule to plan meaningful PD for your peers.
PD Cafe Follow Up...
If you/your team is interested in using these resources, please reach out to me. I am more than willing to purchase some copies of the books; however, if I purchase them, my expectation is that they will be used.
Team Meetings....
During these meetings I will be showing some school level data, introducing each group to the digital data wall, and you will be helping me input student behavior (which should also provide good talking points).
Bring something to write with and an open mind :)
Bus Evacuation Drill
If this will effect specials, or a pullout service (speech, ALP, resource, reading intervention, etc.) please give the teacher a "heads up."
Fire Drill Notes
The most important thing during a drill is to ensure that you and your students get out to safety.
However, in a perfect world (don't come back in to do this), each teacher should close their door when they leave (each door is a "fire door" which will help contain the fire), and turn off your lights on the way out (if it's an electrical fire, this will stop it from spreading as fast).
Fall Festival Notes:
- If you/your grade are doing a basket, it is due Wednesday.
- We currently only have one teacher (Usrey) signed up to do the "Splash Em," booth. This is a modified, safer dunk tank. PTSO will provide gift cards for those that sign up.
- Thank you all for signing up to do a booth! We are at/pretty close to 100% participation.
Kids Take over the School...
Grades K-3....
She was VERY complimentary about what was going on in each classroom!! She said that everyone was working very hard, and took the time to introduce themselves as she went around.
Well done Settler's!
