Most professional accountants have a bachelor degree. Accountants with a four-year degree are able to complete most accounting duties. Having a certification within a specific field of accounting improves the job prospect. After becoming a licensed accountant for a year or two, then you have the choice to become a CPA (certified public accountant) or a CMA (certified management accountant).
Day to day life of an accountant.
No two days are exactly the same for an accountant. Accountants are constantly learning new things. Some of the things an accountant does on a day to day basis is managing bank accounts and investments, preparing profit and loss statements for a company, and doing a lot of others thing for any company. Accountants can work anywhere from 40-80 hours a week. It all depends on how busy they are and all the work they need to get done. Accountants can work pretty much anywhere as long there is internet access. Most accountants are allowed to take vacations after tax season, especially if the have acquired enough hours of overtime to make up for the vacation they are taking.
What you might not know about accountants.
The salaries of an account vary anywhere between 40,000 and 114,000 dollars. During tax season accountants can work anywhere from 10 to 12 hours a day. They also might have to work another 5 or so more hours on the weekend. They spend 90 percent of their time doing audits and tax projects. Some accountants are allowed to take a long vacation after tax season, especially if they have acquired enough overtime to cover the vacation they are taking. One third of an accountants time is spent attending trainings and conferences. Accountants must be good with numbers but also must spend a considerable amount of time reviewing other peoples work.
