Coats for Kids
Please look through your closets!! CAPT is holding a coat drive for COAT’s for Kids Program. Bring in gently used children’s and adults winter jackets. There will be a box located at the entrance to the school and feel free to send in with your child. Every little bit helps. We are looking for a volunteer to periodically drop coats off at Anton's cleaners, contact rodman.prek.capt@gmail.com.
Self-Regulation Station
Social Emotional Lesson Update:
This week our students have been learning about how to manage their mad feelings. We read the book I Want to be Mad for a While by Barney Saltzberg and talked about how mad feelings are okay, we just need to express them safely. They learned the difference between "safe" and "not safe" ways to be mad (behaviors that can hurt others bodies or feelings). The children took turns practicing some of these strategies with a stuffed animal cat. Ask your child how they helped the little black cat show his mad feelings! I'm also including a visual with these "safe" mad strategies, which you can encourage your child to use at home.
We also learned how to do Cake breaths and Dolphin breaths, which are described below.

Nurse Note - Screenings
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Throughout the month of November I will be conducting State Mandated health screenings for vision only. Last September, annual vision screening (near and far) became mandatory for all preschool students in public schools. I perform these screenings in the classrooms and most children are eager to have a turn. Additionally, I have equipment to perform hearing screenings. If you have any concerns about your child’s ability to hear, I am happy to screen them. These screenings are a beneficial tool that may help identify potential issues that could affect your students' health and learning.
If you have any questions or concerns about these screenings, please reach out to me.
All the best,
Nurse Bailey
CORI and Fingerprinting
Reminder:
A CORI check IS required for all volunteers.
Fingerprinting IS required if you are interested in volunteering with direct and unmonitored interactions with students. This included chaperoning field trips.
Fingerprinting is NOT required if you are volunteering under supervision of a school staff member. This included room parents, guest speakers and volunteers at field day events.
*They can take awhile to process so please fill them out early so they have enough time to be returned prior to a field trip or volunteer opportunity
Please provide a copy of your fingerprinting receipt to Susan Crespi crespis@cantonma.org to let us know you completed fingerprinting.
