Fan Club, Celebrations and Birthdays!
Fan Club:
From OLL: Congratulations to Lauren Miley who recently graduated from USF with her Bachelors' degree. We are so proud of you. Way to go!
From Hollie Hopper: I would love to send a shout out and THANK YOU to my MTSS Teammate, Jenny Rinck! I recently reached out to get some of her feedback and expertise for School Retreat planning. Not only did she respond immediately with a willingness to assist, but her ideas and recommendations added tremendously to the engagement, creativity, and focus of our plan. It is great to know we have a team member that brings a vast amount of experiences, and who is passionate about School Improvement.
From OLL: Dual Enrollment drop-off team- YOU ARE AMAZING!!! Thank you to all of our staff who developed and implemented such a smooth process for textbook return on Friday. It was successful because of the great collaboration, positivity and hard work.

Curriculum Contracts-Action Needed
- Grant funded curriculum contracts should have been turned into Angie at this point. If not, please do this ASAP.
- General revenue funded curriculum contracts must be turned in by June 5th.
We know work may continue up to June 30th but turning contracts in by these dates will ensure we are able to pay everyone in a timely manner.
Vendor PD & Instructional Materials
As we are planning PD with outside vendors we wanted to remind everyone that any professional development (regardless of cost – including “free” PD) must have an executed contract in place prior to the training. So please keep this in mind as you continue to negotiate dates and times of any trainings with vendors. This is to protect all involved so there are no surprises like us getting a bill for travel expenses for a “free” PD. PD that comes with the adoption/purchase of materials should have this contract completed so we can check with Purchasing if there are questions of whether a contract already exists or if there needs to be a new one drawn up. We just have to be sure from this point moving forward, that we include this piece with all PD offered from vendors.
If you need the district template, please reach out to Lauren or Angie. All contracts should be submitted directly to contracts@pasco.k12.fl.us , copying Lauren Miley and Angie Torres, for approval.
Mileage
Please email Diane Wilson your March mileage by the end of May. Since OTIS has mileage available on MyPascoConnect you can fill it out from home and sent to her by email dswilson@pasco.k12.fl.us. Due to Covid 19 rules and regulations and many of us working from home our normal process has been very slow. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during our unusual circumstances.
June Online Cambridge Elementary Training
Cambridge will be conducting two online live webinar trainings for NWES and SAES in June:
- SAES: June 4 & 12, 8:30-9:30 am
- NWES: June 18 & 25, 9-10:00 am
There will be work that needs to be completed between each date as well. We have some open spots available for OLL staff to attend these trainings. If you are interested in attending one of the trainings, please email Rebecca Wright.
Planning Forward: Action Needed
Here is an outline of our Planning Forward sessions for your reference:
- Between now and May 22nd you will work collaboratively with colleagues on stakeholder PD and Process plans. Be on the lookout for an email from Lea Mitchell with additional directions, info on the plans you are assigned to support and other details related to next steps.
- May 22: Collaborative Planning for District Initiatives and Strategies
You can also access the Planning Forward 2020 folder here. Please let Vanessa know if you have any issues with access to the documents.
Share your Feedback!
The Superintendent and department leaders want to learn more about what central office leaders and staff are experiencing during this time of remote learning to better improve our district’s communication and support.
Please click here to take a short 2-3 minute survey.
- Completing this survey is voluntary and all responses are anonymous.
- Remember to click SUBMIT at the end of the survey to make sure your responses are received!
Your voice is critical in helping us better understand what is working well and what can be improved. We are looking forward to your feedback!
*This will also be shared through Canvas parent observer accounts. If you are an employee, as well as a parent, we encourage you to respond from each perspective!
Action Required for ALL Staff: Training for Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention
All staff who have not attended the 6-hour Youth Mental Health First Aid training (YMHFA), must complete an alternate training, titled Kognito. The Kognito training consists of a 1.0-hour virtual simulation training.
The requirement is for all staff to be trained in YMHFA or Kognito prior to school starting this fall, August 10, 2020.
Directions to Complete the Kognito Training:
Register via MyPGS, choose one of the three simulation trainings listed below:
- If you have a certification and need inservice points, you will register as instructional staff (e.g. Administrators, Behavior Specialists, Learning Design Coach).
- If you are non-instructional and receiving training hours, you will register as non-instructional staff (e.g. ESE IA, FNS, Bus Driver).
- Please register for one of the three options under Instructional or Non-Instructional course sections, then choose the level (Elem/MS/HS) that you primarily work with, or if you are not school based or unsure what level to attend, participate in the middle level training.
While only one simulation training is required, you are welcome to participate in more than one of the level trainings. If you have been trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) you are not required to participate in Kognito, but you are welcome to participate as well.
The completion of each level of Kognito Simulation training and corresponding assignment will provide 1.0 in-service credits. If you take more than one Kognito level simulation training, additional 1.0 inservice points/training credit will be awarded for each level, but you must register on MyPGS for each level training separately to be awarded additional points up to a total of 3.0 inservice points/training credits
When you register via MyPGS, you will be emailed directions how to participate in the Kognito training. If you are unable to register via MyPGS or access canvas, you may call Patty Collins at 813-492-5902 or via email: pcollins@pasco.k12.fl.us
If you need assistance or have questions around Kognito or YMHFA, please contact:
Kelley Huelle via email: khuelle@pasco.k12.fl.us or call: 813-714-7866 or Vicki Papaemanuel via email: vdumois@pasco.k12.fl.us or call: 813-501-2017.
