For the week ending January 14, 2017
Great Kindness Challenge
New Dates: January 30-February 3, 2017
What is The Great Kindness Challenge?
The Great Kindness Challenge is one school week devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible (using the kindness challenge checklist). The next Great Kindness Challenge takes place January 30-February 3, 2017, and you can join over 5 million students that participated last year. The GKC has the power to increase empathy, tolerance, and compassion for all students from kindergarten through high school.
Jill McManigal, Executive Director of Kids for Peace, stated, “When students perform kind act after kind act after kind act, kindness becomes a habit. When kindness becomes a habit, peace becomes possible.”
Imagine students complimenting each other, reaching out to a lonely child, picking up trash, surprising friends with happy notes in their backpacks, thanking their teachers creatively, and eating lunch with a new group of friends. These kind acts and more will happen in schools across all 50 states during the 6th Annual Great Kindness Challenge!

Box Tops for Education
Start Saving
Last year CCS received a check for $1052.00 from collecting box tops. We are hoping to do better this year. This money is used for any worthy projects - we used it last year to purchase recess equipment.
Start saving your box tops. Soon student council will begin their annual drive to collect them and classes could ear prizes for having the most. You can find them on many items and some earn more points than others. It is a great fundraiser. More information about the contest will be coming soon. But for now - Start Clipping!
