Student Placement for the 2021-2022 School Year
2021-2022 PLACEMENT PROCEDURES
Soon we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. In putting together our roster of classes, we will take into consideration many factors including: academic performance, behavioral characteristics, personalities, needs, and learning styles. Our goal is to ensure that each child is in a class that has an appropriate balance of students with the proper teacher. We will assess each child using the data collected from the present classroom teacher(s) and the input of the Student Support Counselors, Reading Specialists, and Administration.
Class placement is made after reviewing considerable data. If you feel that we would benefit from additional information, please send the placement form found on our website or linked here, in an envelope addressed to Mrs. Pedersen or send via email to Mrs. Haegele, khaegele@cbsd.org . You SHOULD NOT request a specific teacher for your child. Requests for specific teachers will not be considered and will be returned to parents with a new parent input form. If however you have concerns, based on a personal past experience with an older sibling, you may share this on the form.
You are not required to fill out this form. Student Information forms must be returned by May 14, 2021.
After placement has been completed, class assignment changes will only be considered by Mrs. Pedersen for very specific/critical cases. Moving even one child from a class could upset the balance of a classroom and have an impact that extends far beyond your child. All of our teachers are caring, capable, and highly-qualified educators. Thank you for your cooperation in not requesting changes and for your understanding, trust, and support.
Move Up Day 2021
Due to the changes this year and the ongoing uncertainty about what elements of the Health and Safety plan will remain next year, we will not be able to finalize the student placement process until after this school year ends. As a result, our Move Up Day will look different than it has in years past. Pine Run will hold a Move Up Day on Thursday, June 10, 2021, however, students will not be assigned a specific teacher by that date. Instead, a teacher(s) from the next grade will visit your child’s class to share highlights of what the 2021-2022 school year will hold for them. Our goal in this activity is to build excitement and reduce anxiety for the next school year as we head into the summer. Virtual students are invited to join us, details will be shared as we get closer to the date.
If you have questions about any of this information, please feel free to contact me.
Respectfully,
Stacey Pedersen

Please Read: Late Arrival
School begins at 8:35. If you bring your child in after this time you should park in our lot, walk your child into school through the main entrance, and sign them in. Students should not be dropped off at the curb and walk in unescorted.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Stacey Pedersen

SPARK Article #6
Bringing career education and development to the elementary grades is one of the primary goals of the district’s K-12 Guidance Plan and of these Sparks articles. Recently, students in Central Bucks took a huge step toward this by the introduction of Smart Futures to students in grades 3 through 6. Smart Futures is an online career development and portfolio platform which focuses on grade-specific activities for students and manages the outcomes of the activities in a portfolio which meets the required PA Career Readiness Standards. With just introducing SF this spring to our elementary students, they are not required to complete all the available activities, but they will begin the goal of developing a career plan. Beginning next fall, students in grades K – 2 will also begin using SF.
SF allows students to discover what they like to do, learn about careers they might want to investigate and even how to develop a budget. To learn more about SF, watch this short video and you can always ask your child to log onto SF to see what they are learning.

We can't wait to meet our new Owls!
We are very excited to announce that our Spring 2021 iRun4Life running program is available through our free iRun4Life App. Now, more than ever, it is important to motivate your kids to be healthy, and offer them fun and engaging exercise options they can do safely at home. To join our Spring Running Program, all you need to do is download the free iRun4Life App in the Apple or Android store – just search for “iRun4Life.”
Our weekly iRun4Life running program is available in the “Running & Fitness” link. Similar to our in person after school running program, there are weekly warm up exercises, running schedules, and cool down exercises that are updated each month. After running, your kids can click on the red link to log their miles and good deeds – just like the kids did last year. And they can still run with their friends in a safe environment. The only difference is that the children will be running in their neighborhood, or in a local park rather than at school. Another exciting feature of this year’s running program are yoga and dance videos.
Another feature of our running program is Healthy Nutrition. This is also available in our App through the Healthy Recipe link, where you will find family friendly healthy Snack, Meals, and Dessert recipes that our easy to make with your kids.
This year has been extremely challenging, and many of our kids’ physical and mental well-being have suffered. Our iRun4Life app will ensure your kids are healthy, and allow them to grow with our running program, as so many other kids have in years past.
