Please help your student practice as much as possible in the next few days. We want to make sure every student feels as confident as possible for their performance. I will be available from 8-8:30 every morning next week for students to practice in the gymnasium. Students who would like to practice may come to the gym early on those days.

We are looking forward to celebrating our students at the end of the school year IB Assembly on June 12th! It has been an amazing year working in our IB Program as the coordinator. I am looking forward to showing off all that we as a staff have done this year and all that is still yet to come!

We are almost finished with our state testing for the year! We only have a few students who will finish up their 8th grade Science test next week. Some of the scores have already started coming in and the hard work of our amazing teachers are showing! I look forward to presenting our school wide data in our Site Council meeting on June 6th!

Skyline Ridge Neighbors
Attached is a brochure with our latest update on this summer's NW Cornelius Pass Road construction. We are mailing this information to a wide area to get the word out about the project and upcoming public meetings. Here are some highlights:
- Schedule: We expect our contractor Wildish Standard Paving will close the road to through traffic in early July and reopen it by Sept. 21. The closure is now expected to last about 11 weeks, down from the 13 weeks we were predicting earlier this year.
- Public meetings: Before construction, we will hold a public meeting in each of the three counties impacted by the project, to share information and answer questions. Each meeting is from 6 - 7:30 pm. The meetings are on:
- June 5, Skyline Elementary School Gym, 11536 NW Skyline Blvd.
- June 11, Scappoose High School Auditorium, 33700 SE High School Way, Scappoose
- June 17, Westview High School Cafeteria, 4200 NW 185th Ave., Portland
- Increased Truck Traffic: Cornelius Pass Road users will notice more dump truck traffic on the road starting this week, as Intel begins construction of a new fabrication facility in Hillsboro. The trucks take fill to Columbia County sites and bring in gravel from Columbia County. The trucks will detour to highways after Cornelius Pass Road closes in early July.
Portland Parks & Rec at Forest Park Meeting
At the recent wildfire presentations about creating defensible space presented by Skyline Grange, some folks had questions about what Portland Parks & Rec is doing to limit wildfire risk in Forest Park.
At the June 18 Forest Park Neighborhood meeting, some of the wonderful people from Portland Parks & Recreation staff who take care of Forest Park have been invited to talk about their current projects. They can also answer questions about how they work to limit wildfire risk in the park.
Folks who are interested in more information about this topic are welcome to come to our meeting.
The meeting will be Tuesday June 18 at 7PM. The meeting location is Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd. It is located on Skyline between NW Thompson and NW Springville Roads. Please use GATE 2 – this is the northern gate, which will take you directly down to the parking lot, and the building we meet in is right next to the parking lot. There are markers at this entrance that say “Gate 2”. If you use the other gate there is a long circuitous drive and you are likely to have difficulty finding us.
