School Fees Due October 30, 2021
Pay School Fees Online!
School fees are posted to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and are due to be paid by October 30, 2021 for the 2021-22 school year. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay online using Visa, MasterCard or debit card—when available from your financial institution.
Don’t forget to log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of certain school activities such as field trips, class projects, athletic-team fees and more. Additionally, junior high and senior high fees can change as courses are added and deleted.
If circumstances exist where you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2021.
For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines visit www.eips.ca/schools/fees. Alternatively, contact Ms. Tomkow, Business Manager at Rudolph Hennig JHS at 780-998-2216.
Brightspace App
To make it easier for parents and guardians to see what their children are working on, what’s on the schedule and the latest news from the classroom, Brightspace Parent & Guardian is now available as a mobile app for iOS® and Android™. Documentation has been created to support parents and guardians in navigating the mobile app.
Week in Review
This week truly was the beginning of Fall, not only with the amazing colours, or with the frost outside, but with our gym opening up to student activities at lunch! Students are able to come to the gym at lunch to play some games with their grade level peers. It is a great way to get some energy out in the middle of the day. Each grade has certain days of the schedule assigned to them to continue to cohort our students. Grade 7 students have Days 1 and 4, Grade 8 students have Days 2 and 5, and Grade 9 students get the gym on Days 3 and 6. Students are still able to enjoy the fresh air by signing out equipment in the gym, and many are still spending their lunches outside!
On Tuesday RHJ sent our Cross Country team to a race at the Strathcona Wilderness Center. Although it was a chilly start, our Ravens competed hard and represented our school with pride!
Our Art classes are in full swing, this week saw our grade 8's painting their plaster masks!
This Week at Rudolph Hennig

Schools throughout Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) are celebrating, with the theme: Bus Rules Rock!, which focuses on the importance of being a responsible rider. Counsellor Corner with Ms. Kropp
We recognize that many of us are struggling with one thing or another. Often times we don't know where to look for help. Below is a link to some community supports. Please reach out if you need support. Asking for help is a sign of strength, and there are people here and in the community that want to help.

Election 2021
Municipal Election 2021: Vote October 18
The next municipal election, which includes the election of local school board trustees, takes place on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021. It’s your opportunity to get involved in public education by casting your vote for a public school trustee.
EIPS Trustee Election information
Electors can cast their votes for municipal candidates—mayors, reeves, councilors, as applicable—and school board trustee candidates—public or separate. Voting stations are typically open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Each municipality conducts the election for its residents and establishes formal voting station hours and procedures.
Improving Home-School Communication
To enhance communication between families and schools, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) has developed a how-to guide entitled, “Communication Protocol for Schools.” Topics include appropriate channels to use, standard formats and structures, timing and sequencing for regular and ongoing home-school communication, and ways to bring forward questions or concerns. The guide also offers useful tools and resources schools and families can use to enhance face-to-face meetings, email communication and various social media efforts.
