Message from the Principal

Dear Miller School Students, Parents, and Teachers,

We made it through the most challenging school year any of us have ever faced. I am extremely proud of the commitment, dedication, and resiliency we have all demonstrated over the past year and a half. Summer will officially begin in a few short days. Take the time to enjoy all of the great things this time of the year brings. Lastly, please remember to check our district website for programs being offered this summer.

Have A Safe and Happy Summer

Sincerely,

Jim Battersby

These students were recognized by their teacher for being an excellent student, a caring friend, and a respectful member of our school family. This year's prize winners will receive a night out on the Ocean City Boardwalk! This includes pizza at Pisa Pizza, ice cream at Polish Water Ice, rides at Castaway Cove, minigolf at Golden Galleon, and go carts at Playland's Pier 9. Congratulations to all of our winners!

End of the Year Send Off

We ended our school year with a heart-felt bus send off. Administration, teachers, and support-staff all lined up on Cates and Alder Avenues to say their farewells. We look forward to seeing our 4th graders return as 5th graders in September. We wish our 5th graders all the best as they began their next chapter in middle school!

A Taste of the Olympics

During the week of June 7-11th the students of Team #3 competed in the "Team #3 1st Olympiad". Students competed as class teams in a variety of field activities each day. Additionally, students learned about the traditions surrounding the Olympics. Topics included, Olympic medals, the Olympic Torch, the meaning behind the Olympic Rings, and the Olympic Oath. They also learned about some of the countries that compete in the Olympics as well as famous Olympians. The week came to a close with a visit to this year's host country Japan! EHT Pride

The culture of our schools includes our school improvement efforts to increase student achievement for ALL students. Where with Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Through professional development opportunities we are building an effective learning culture where students are provided a safe learning environment. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We have a district -wide initiative that includes individualized interventions through the RTI process to assist ALL students with learning. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. The high school multicultural club will be preparing to join the district equity committee to participate in collaborative discussions and event planning. Together, we can achieve more!
