Back to School Night is Tuesday, September 15th.

What can I expect of the CHS Bridge Back to School Night?


Early in the day you will receive an introduction video from site administration and important stakeholders of the CHS community. This will be sent via email, text and posted on the CHS website.


By 5 PM your child's teachers will have posted a video on their PowerSchool page to introduce parents to the curriculum and delivery models so you know how your child will be expected to be an active participant in class.


For a family/teacher conference, look for contact info and request a meeting via that contact info, this is what you will see on the PowerSchool page:

Fall Athletic Activities

Islander Sports Foundation is offering some activities that will start the week of Sept 14th, except for boys soccer which will start Sept 25th. All activities will follow social distancing guidelines, masks will be required while entering and leaving the facility. No parents/guardians may enter the facility. Activities will mostly focus on conditioning and basic skills. Please go to www.islandersportsfoundation.com to find out more and sign-ups (first come, first serve) will start Thursday Sept 10th at 7:30am.

Football, Cross Country, Girls Tennis, Softball

Girls Lacrosse ,Boys Basketball, Boys Soccer, Cheer

Freshman Class Officer Campaigns:

This week is Freshmen Class Officer Campaign week!


Campaigns will run on social media from Sept, 14 to Sept 18th. On Friday a separate email will be sent to all freshmen families and posted on the Islander Powerschool page with class officer speeches. Voting will open on Friday, September 18th, and close Monday, September 21st at noon and will take place online using CUSD logins on the following link: https://tinyurl.com/islanderclass2024

Virtual College Visits:

College visits start this week throughout the fall! Open to all students! Sign up at scoir.com and meet with representatives virtually from colleges all over the country.

Attention SENIORS: COLLEGE Zoom session with your counselors:

The CHS counselors will hold a zoom meeting on Wednesday 9/16 from 2 PM-2:40 PM to talk about college including: how to use SCOIR for college research and letters of recommendation/transcripts, updates on the CSU/UC applications, and general tips and advice for the admission process.


*This meeting is for senior students only. Please be on the lookout for our Senior Parent Night series on Applying to College and Financial Aid starting in late September!!

We're busy spreading Islander cheer. PTO welcomed teachers and staff back to school with gift wrapped candles and notes that read, "Thank you for being a light in the distance. Please let us know how we can be of assistance!" Next we'll be working to celebrate teachers and students as we transition back to campus.

Military Family Game Packs!!

WELCOME BACK FAMILY GAME TIME PACKS FOR MILITARY FAMILIES

To welcome CUSD military families back to school, Navy Child & Youth Programs is giving away goodie bags packed with fun-filled games for the whole family to enjoy! Family Game Packs will be distributed during the CUSD meal distributions (meal pick up is not required to receive your goodie bag). One game pack per military family with an enrolled student, while supplies last.

National Honor Society Tutoring

California Association of Student Councils offers a virtual LEADERSHIP conference for students:

CASC is a nonprofit organization founded in 1947 by the California Department of Education. Our two main purposes are to expand leadership development for students across the state and to connect students with the people who have the ultimate power in the education system. As the only student organization with standing appointments with the State Board of Education and the Senate and Assembly Committees on Education, it is CASC’s responsibility to represent all of California’s 6.3 million students.
