From Beyond Bullet Points: Using Microsoft PowerPoint to Create Presentations that Inform, Motivate, and Inspire by Cliff Atkinson
I found the content of this book to not only be entertaining but very valuable. The author talks about using the concept of story to create your presentation. This will help focus your ideas, and create a script that will engage the audience.
The Three Step Approach
Write the script to focus your ideas.
Storyboard your script to clarify ideas.
Produce your script to engage the audience.
Be sure to add your by line.
Many PowerPoint presentations get edited and reused. But ultimately it is the presenter's integrity that is on the line when the presentation is made.
Each title of the slide lets the audience know what you are going to talk about.
If you read only the titles of slides, the audience should understand the presentation.
Put the script in the Notes section of PowerPoint.
This does two things, you always have the notes. You have a script for those who wish to read the script.
Use the slide sorter view as a story board.
You will be able to read your titles through and pick images to support your script.
Distribute notes as a pdf
Print your notes pages as the handout using .pdf file format. You can use this to post to the web in addition to the animated video.
Practice, practice, practice
Delivering live or recorded, you should be very familiar with the script so you sound natural and relaxed.
